Do you want to strengthen Helsingborg's work on climate adaptation and sustainable urban development? We are now looking for a Climate Strategist who wants to drive, coordinate, and develop the city's work to meet a changing climate – together with engaged colleagues and partners.
About the Workplace
The City Planning Department plans, builds, manages, and develops Helsingborg. We create conditions for the city's residents, businesses, and visitors, and develop environments where people want to live, meet, and thrive – a sustainable city that both we and the people of Helsingborg can be proud of. We are 240 dedicated employees who work creatively, intelligently, and with joy in an organization where innovation and development go hand in hand.
You will become part of the Master Planning Unit within the City Planning Department. The unit consists of 12 employees with diverse backgrounds and competencies in areas such as planning, ecology, climate, water issues, GIS, and social sciences. Together, we work in a multidisciplinary manner on both long-term strategies and concrete implementation projects that contribute to sustainable societal development.
Responsibilities
You are our coordinator for the planning and implementation of climate adaptation measures. Helsingborg is affected by rising sea levels, heavy rainfall, and extreme heat. We develop strategies in the master plan and have set the direction in our action plan. The challenge is to implement measures that yield the most benefit and develop efficient processes to account for a changing climate. You will contribute knowledge and support in urban development and planning processes.
You are the one who follows developments in the field and drives issues within the city. A large part of the work is done in collaboration with others in the department, NSVA, or others in the city. Innovation and development are important to us, so cooperation with researchers, government agencies, and external actors is a part of the work. We participate in collaborations with other actors both regionally and internationally.
The role involves working both long-term strategically and close to concrete implementation issues.
What We Offer
With us, you get a meaningful assignment with great opportunities for development and wonderful colleagues who are passionate about societal development. Our office is centrally located at Helsingborg C, providing good communication links and an attractive work environment. We value the balance between work and leisure, offering flexible hours, remote work, up to 3,000 SEK per year in wellness benefits, pension salary exchange, and the possibility of reduced working hours for those aged 63+ and more.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have relevant higher education or university degree in areas such as physical planning, environment, climate, urban construction, or other education that the employer deems equivalent.
You have experience working with climate adaptation, sustainable urban development, or related issues. It is an advantage if you have worked in the public sector and have an understanding of municipal processes in urban construction and the conditions of the politically driven organization.
We would like you to have experience with:
- strategic development work
- project management, preferably in collaboration between different actors
- work with issues related to water, heavy rainfall, coast, and risk management
To thrive in the role, you need to be self-reliant, structured, and have good ability to collaborate and drive issues forward. You are confident in switching between strategic perspectives and practical implementation and can communicate complex issues clearly.
A driver's license for a passenger car is required. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
