About the Company
Vattenfall Eldistribution AB is Vattenfall's electricity grid business and one of Sweden's largest electricity grid companies. We are responsible for a socially vital infrastructure that distributes electricity to more than 900,000 businesses and households. About the Role
Do you want a meaningful job where you can make a real difference for both society and the energy transition? Here, you are part of a socially vital operation with exciting projects, cutting-edge technology, and colleagues who value each other.
We are now looking for several experienced Automation and Communications Engineers who want to help build the maintenance operations of the future!
We are facing one of Vattenfall Eldistribution's largest investments ever – a historic mobilization to build a stronger, more resilient, and entirely in-house capability in maintenance and repair. In a time when the external environment places increasingly high demands on robustness and durability, we are taking decisive steps to secure an electricity grid that can withstand harsh conditions and deliver when needed most.
Responsibilities and Tasks
We are now looking for Automation and Communications Engineers who want to strengthen our technical department. We offer you a free and responsible role where you help ensure a reliable and modern infrastructure in our facilities across the country. Here, you have excellent opportunities for both technical deepening and personal development in the role.
On the Technology & Control Plant Department, approximately 50 engineers work with specialist competence in automation, communications, control equipment, and construction. Here you meet colleagues who are passionate about technology, are happy to share their knowledge, and take great responsibility for both quality and safety.
Your Role as Automation and Communications Engineer
- Participate in preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of automation and communications equipment.
- Participate in projects involving the conversion and new construction of automation and communications solutions, and ensure the implementation of new, ongoing projects within the area.
- Be involved in design, material procurement, construction, implementation, installation, and commissioning.
- Handle supplier and contractor contacts.
Our work takes place in environments that sometimes involve working at heights and potential risks, which means that safety and risk awareness are always at the center. At the same time, our daily life is characterized by collaboration, problem-solving, and the opportunity to work close to the technology that keeps Sweden's electricity grid running. Travel is a natural part of the job, mostly during the day, but overnight trips do occur.
Requirements
Our way of working is characterized by freedom under responsibility, and as a person, you are therefore driven by taking on challenges, solving problems, and achieving set goals. Since you will have contact with both internal and external stakeholders, we are looking for someone who is service-oriented and enjoys working both independently and in close collaboration with colleagues.
In addition to your personal qualities, we would like you to have:
- An education in telecommunications, automation, or electrical power, or equivalent practical experience as assessed by the employer.
- Several years of experience working in telecommunications, automation, or electrical power.
- Experience with technologies such as optical fiber and radio-based communication, for example 4G and radio links, station bus-based networks according to the IEC61850 standard, and IP-based networks.
You express yourself well in both Swedish and English, in writing and speech. A B driver's license is required.
Additional merits we value:
- Experience from the electrical power industry.
- Experience in previously leading projects or work, preferably as a project manager, or alternatively work experience as a coordinator within the industry.
- Practical experience in working with and configuring remote control and control equipment, for example RTUs and relay protection.
