Special Educator/Special Teacher for Competence Center in Köping
Competence Center in Köping is the municipality's adult education provider and is part of the Social and Employment Administration. Over 800 students study with us each year in SFI (Swedish for Immigrants), adapted education, basic and upper secondary adult education, as well as vocational higher education programs.
We run most of our education in-house, which creates an stimulating work environment with high competence, broad experience, and close collaboration among colleagues.
We are now looking for an engaged and development-oriented Special Educator/Special Teacher at the upper secondary level who wants to strengthen adult learning and create opportunities for further studies, work, and personal development.

Responsibilities
You will work as a special educator/special teacher, providing support in pedagogical matters to teachers and school management. Work in smaller student groups and individual sessions with students will also be part of the role.
You will support teachers in structuring their teaching to ensure that education is accessible, inclusive, and promotes participation for all students.
You should be able to meet with students and lead meetings both together with colleagues and independently.
Competence Center is part of an ESF project where you will initially work 50% of your position. The project is time-limited, but the position is a permanent full-time (100%) role. Therefore, tasks may be adjusted over time according to the needs of the operations.
About the Role
As a special educator/special teacher at Competence Center, you will work both operationally and directly with students. You are a key part of our work to create an accessible and inclusive learning environment where all students are given the opportunity to reach their goals.
You function as a qualified support for teachers, work teams, and school management in special pedagogical matters.
In this role, you will also:
- Provide pedagogical support to teachers and school management regarding extra adjustments and accessible learning environments.
- Contribute to developing teaching to make it inclusive, accessible, and promoting participation for all students.
- Assess students' needs and propose appropriate support measures.
- Work with students individually and in small groups to strengthen their chances of success in their studies.
- Participate in and lead meetings with students, teachers, study and career counselors, and external partners when necessary.
- Contribute to the school's systematic quality work and provide a special pedagogical perspective in operational development.
- Collaborate with other professions within the school to create good conditions for learning.
Qualifications
You build good relationships with students and teachers. You are independent and driven, both individually and in collaboration with colleagues. We are looking for someone who is flexible, solution-focused, sees collaborative work as an asset, has good knowledge of qualified conversations, and is passionate about school development. Deep knowledge of different learning abilities, different pedagogical approaches to learning, and remedial work at the individual, group, and organizational levels is important.
Competence/Qualification Requirements
We are looking for you who have education as a special teacher or special educator, along with a teaching degree focused on primary school and/or upper secondary school. Teaching certification in Swedish and Mathematics is required, as well as further education as a special educator or special teacher. Being qualified in additional subjects is an advantage.
Interviews may be conducted continuously during the application period.
