As a Senior Strategic Business Analyst in Uppsala Municipality, you have an independent and qualified analytical assignment with significant responsibility. This is a completely new position and a key role where you combine advanced analysis with strategic decision support. You work at the intersection of business, labor market, regional development, and urban planning, contributing materials that support both management and political decisions.

You will belong to the corporate shared analysis unit within the Quality and Planning Department at the Municipal Executive Office. Here, we work both with recurring joint analyses, such as population forecasts and environmental scanning, and with more targeted assignments from different parts of the organization. The unit is also responsible for the municipality's data governance.

Description of duties

In the newly established role as Senior Strategic Business Analyst, you are responsible for the municipality's most qualified analyses within the business, labor market, and growth areas. You function as analytical expert support to the municipal executive, managers, and operations, and you translate complex statistics and extensive data material into clear conclusions, recommendations, and decision support.

You have overall responsibility for the municipality's analyses of the business climate, business development, and competitiveness. The assignment includes analysis, method development, and strategic interpretation of both local, regional, and national data. You are responsible for following up on business surveys and other relevant measurements, as well as comparative analyses with other municipalities and regions in Sweden and internationally. You are also responsible for in-depth analyses of the structure of the business sector, the development of the labor market, and the municipality's long-term growth prerequisites in the Stockholm-Uppsala region. The work includes both structural analyses and shorter-term economic assessments where you combine business data, employment statistics, population development, and other relevant information to identify connections and development patterns.

A central part of the work is to formulate and communicate analyses in reports, decision memorandums, presentation materials, and strategic documents. Your analyses provide important knowledge support for the municipality's management and political level, and therefore place high demands on analytical depth, judgment, and independence.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have an academic degree in, for example, economics, statistics, economic geography, or equivalent. You have several years of experience working independently with qualified analyses or investigations within the business area – preferably in an advisory or consulting role. You are accustomed to working with statistics and database-based analyses and feel confident in handling and interpreting complex data sets.

Since the position is located in a politically governed organization, you need to have a good understanding of how the public sector works and the role of analysis in decision-making. We also see that you have experience working in collaboration between the public sector and business, for example in analysis or development projects. You express yourself very well in Swedish, both orally and in writing, and also have good written proficiency in English. It is an advantage if you have programming skills, for example, R.

You collaborate well with others and relate to your surroundings in a responsive and smooth manner. You listen, communicate, and resolve conflicts in a constructive way.

Uppsala Municipality applies individual and differentiated salary setting according to the current collective agreement.

In your application, you must state your citizenship.
