Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. Here, you will experience both tough trials and fantastic events, within a strong community with your colleagues. We welcome your application!

Opportunity to Apply for Study Grants

Are you a nursing student interested in working in Oncology and Oncological Endocrinology after completing your education and graduating as a nurse? We offer those starting semester 6 of the nursing program and choosing to begin their careers with us after completing their studies the opportunity to apply for a study grant during their final semester (semester 6).

Grow into the Role

As a newly graduated nurse at Akademiska Sjukhuset, you will have varied tasks and a secure and educational start in your new profession. Sometimes the step between education and working life feels large, and to give you the opportunity to grow into your new role, you will become part of our Clinical Development Year (KUÅ) during your first year with us.

KUÅ is a mandatory professional introduction for newly graduated nurses employed in Region Uppsala, aimed at helping you sharpen your clinical skills, network with other new graduates, and have reflection time together with experienced nurses. Our Operations

The Endocrine Oncology ward is a department within the area of blood and tumor diseases located in Building 100. The department currently has 17 care beds on weekdays and 12 beds on weekends. Here, you will have a varied job where you combine nursing care with some emergency care that may arise in connection with treatments. The department collaborates closely with other departments/clinics within our area of activity.

Some of the most common oncological endocrinological diagnoses are neuroendocrine tumors (NET), neuroendocrine cancer (NEC), and thyroid cancer. These are treated with targeted radiotherapy and/or cytostatics/immunotherapy. The most common oncological diagnosis here is lymphoma, where our specialty is CAR-T treatment, a therapy where the patient's own T-cells are genetically modified to attack the cancer. We strive for continuous development and are part of highly specialized cancer care. Here, you will work with medical technology, including central and peripheral access lines, cytostatics, and immunotherapies. You will work in an environment with high nurse density, experienced doctors, nurses, and nursing assistants. We work together as a team.

Your Competence

You are a nursing student starting semester 6. You are interested in Oncology and Oncological Endocrinology and wish to start working on the Oncological Endocrinology ward 100 A after completing your degree. We place great importance on personal suitability, such as being responsible and motivated in your work. You have a flexible and curious attitude and good teamwork skills.

What We Offer

We offer you a permanent position as a nursing assistant. Upon submission of your license, the employment will be converted to a permanent position as a nurse. You commit to working with us for 12 months after completing your degree. There is an opportunity to work as a nursing assistant during your studies, but this is not a requirement. Your new position will, unless otherwise agreed, involve full-time work with duty requirements for all hours of the day and night, so-called rotational duty.

Here you will receive benefits that make a difference; read about the benefits here: Region Uppsala Benefits (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/).
