Within the preschools of Berg Municipality, offered across seven locations, well-educated and dedicated staff work to provide the municipality's children with the best possible conditions for lifelong learning. Our children should have fun, feel safe, and be able to develop according to their own prerequisites. We are now looking for a South Sami-speaking preschool teacher or a Sami-speaking person with other pedagogical experience.

Job Responsibilities

As a Sami language resource and preschool staff member, you contribute to children's development and learning. You work systematically to create a preschool characterized by security, curiosity, desire, and joy.

In your professional role, you work in accordance with the Swedish National Agency for Education's curriculum for the preschool (Lpfö 18 rev 2025) and strive to support our Sami children in education in the Sami language and the development of a cultural identity. You will be responsible for planning, follow-up, and documentation of education and teaching, where language is prioritized. Together with the work team, you are responsible for ensuring that preschool education lays the foundation for all children's understanding of different languages and cultures, including the languages and cultures of national minorities.

The role also involves being a good role model for children and colleagues, having a good understanding of the equal value of all people, and maintaining a trust-based approach.

The main placement for the position is at Åsarna Preschool, but it also involves working at other preschools in the municipality where guardians have applied for preschool entirely or partially in Sami.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have good knowledge of South Sami and are a certified preschool teacher, alternatively a trained childcare worker, or have other post-secondary education with a pedagogical focus.

Experience from education or teaching in South Sami is also meritorious, as is knowledge of North Sami. Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, is a requirement.

Previous experience from working within preschool is meritorious.

A B-driver's license is a requirement.

The position is a permanent full-time employment with a six-month probation period. Start date is by agreement.

The salary range for this position is between 32,000-35,000 SEK for you as a certified preschool teacher; other relevant educations have an entry salary range between 26,000-30,000 SEK depending on educational background and previous relevant work experience.
