Hourly Energy Engineer Position at Energikontor Norr – Student Role

Do you want to take an active part in developing Northern Sweden into a sustainable and competitive region amidst the energy transition and the attractive energy sector? Energikontor Norr supports municipalities in Norrbotten, public actors, and SMEs in their strategic energy and climate work. We attract and drive EU-funded projects where we collaborate with municipalities, universities, companies, and other actors to make Norrbotten more attractive, sustainable, and competitive.
About the role as Hourly Energy Engineer
As an hourly energy expert, you will work in some of our project teams alongside senior colleagues and partners. You will have the opportunity to develop within the energy field and gain valuable experience from EU projects. We are currently looking for two students at Luleå University of Technology who have a strong interest in the energy transition and wish to work part-time alongside their studies.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert knowledge on energy issues to our projects. Areas may include energy systems, energy efficiency, district heating, energy production, renewable energy such as solar, wind, hydropower, and bioenergy, transport and mobility, electrification, sustainable energy use, power systems, energy transition, etc. NOTE: These are examples of areas.
- Conduct analyses and evaluations.
- Provide advice to companies, authorities, and other organizations.
- To a lesser extent, educate and inform about energy issues through lectures, workshops, and publications. Spread knowledge about energy solutions and sustainability.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders, including researchers, technicians, politicians, and industry leaders, to promote the energy transition.
Qualifications:
- Studying at LTU (Energy Technology, Mechanical Engineering with a focus on energy, or similar). We prefer that you are near the end of your studies.
- Drive and engagement. Strong analytical skills, good communication skills, and ability to work in a team. Ability to think strategically and innovatively.
- Deep understanding of the technical aspects of energy systems and energy solutions. Ability to quickly grasp new technologies and trends.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle complex and challenging situations.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, as well as Teams and online tools, and AI.
- Social and positive, can-do attitude, non-hierarchical, flexible team player, humble, and solution-oriented.
Advantageous but not required:
- Have taken courses specifically dealing with district heating, energy readiness, or mobility.
- Knowledge of the energy situation and facilities in Norrbotten or Norrbotten municipalities, e.g., through project work or similar.
- Previous experience working with energy issues, energy efficiency, or sustainability, consulting work, or project management is advantageous but not a requirement for recent graduates.
- Experience participating in project work in general or energy-related project work during studies or through internships.
- Knowledge of EU projects and externally funded projects.
