Our Operations

The Department of Psychiatry at Akademiska Sjukhuset is organized into four subspecialized sections. The Emergency Department for Adult Psychiatry and the Psychiatric Emergency Care Unit belong to the Acute and Consultative Psychiatry section. The Emergency Department for Adult Psychiatry operates 24/7 and has overall responsibility for psychiatric emergency services as well as consultative services for the rest of the hospital. The department also includes a Psychiatric Emergency Care Unit (PAVA) with twelve beds and the PAM unit, staffed by specialist nurses. We are looking for a nurse with an interest in psychiatric emergency care. Your Role

As a nurse, you always work with the patient in focus. You lead the nursing work in the team, allocate resources, and prioritize interventions during your shift. You assess the patient's psychiatric and somatic conditions, bringing a nursing perspective to the interdisciplinary team. Your responsibilities also include quality development of psychiatric nursing.

The Charge Nurse at the Emergency Department has overall responsibility for the department and the emergency room to provide good and safe emergency care together with nursing staff and doctors. You monitor patient flow, perform initial acute assessments, and triage patients.

The Charge Nurse at PAVA has overall responsibility for providing good and safe care, as well as patient-centered and evidence-based nursing for all patients in collaboration with other professional groups. Here we work in teams, and you are responsible for approx. 6 patients together with care assistants, collaborating with the other team on the ward in a shared overall responsibility for the patients.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for a new colleague who is a licensed nurse and holds a bachelor's degree in nursing. You are interested in psychiatric emergency care, where you daily work with assessing and caring for patients seeking urgent help. You are interested in working within a department with a broad scope, where you will personally develop in your role as a nurse.

We Offer

We place great importance on you feeling secure in your role as a nurse and with your tasks. Therefore, we view your first six months as an individualized introduction with gradually increased responsibility and stepwise competence development. Depending on your experience, we build your introduction together for the best result. We start the introduction on the ward, PAVA, and thereafter you are also introduced to the clinic, allowing you to rotate between inpatient care and the emergency department.

We work with mentorship, which means you will get a mentor who will support you during your first year as an employee with us.

If you are a recent graduate, you are also offered to participate in a Clinical Development Year (KUÅ), at 20% of your working hours during your first year.
