We are looking for a Nursing Assistant for Ward 101E – Ear, Nose, and Throat Diseases

We are Akademiska Sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. Here, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, within a strong community of colleagues. We welcome your application!

Our Operations

Ward 101E belongs to the Ear, Nose, and Throat Diseases department. We are located in Building 101 and operate in new, excellent facilities. The ward consists of a day surgery section and a preoperative section, providing conditions for a developing and varied daily routine.

The preoperative section is tasked with preparing patients for surgeries and examinations. Patients come from several different surgical departments, such as general surgery and urology, which provides a great variety of surgeries and treatments. The ward's main patient flow consists of elective patients who are to be operated on/treated at the hospital's various surgical wards, radiology, or clinics.

The day surgery section provides pre- and postoperative care for patients within ear, nose, and throat surgery, plastic surgery, and jaw surgery. The patients you meet are both children and adults of all ages. There is a large variation in procedures, performed under both general anesthesia and local anesthesia.

The ward's primary goal is to deliver safe, properly prepared patients to the correct surgical ward at the right time, as well as to offer good postoperative care. We have short care periods and work at a high pace at times.

Your Role

At 101E, we are now looking for a new colleague who wants to become an important part of our team. The ward is a crucial part of the surgical chain, and you will collaborate closely with the surgical departments and operating rooms. One of your most important tasks is to make patients feel safe and well-cared for before their upcoming surgery. Routine nursing assistant tasks such as blood sampling and catheterization are also included.

Your Qualifications

  • Registered nursing assistant with a few years of clinical experience working on a care ward.
  • Good familiarity with documenting in the medical record system Cosmic.

Your Competencies

We are looking for you who have a flexible approach, are responsible, and find high patient flows to be an exciting and fun challenge. You can see each patient's needs even in brief encounters and make them feel safe and cared for. You work independently and systematically and find it easy to collaborate both within your own work group and with our partners. As a colleague, you are positive and contribute to a good work environment. We also want you to have the ability to think innovatively and a willingness to develop the operations together with the group.

What We Offer

A permanent full-time position with a start date as agreed. Working hours are weekdays Monday to Friday between 06:30 – 19:00, where you either work day shifts or afternoon shifts.

We offer you a pleasant work group consisting of nurses and nursing assistants. At 101E, we have a high ceiling for ideas and work together with the patient in focus. The introduction is adapted to your previous experience with continuous follow-up. The ward offers internal lectures and regular CPR training. Here, you receive benefits that make a difference; read about the benefits here: Region Uppsala Benefits (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/).
