The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) is the leading, guiding, and coordinating authority in civil defense. We ensure that society is prepared for crisis, high alert, and war.

As a case officer, you will work on developing knowledge, guidance, and support within the field of evacuation and accommodation. You will become part of the team at the Population Protection Unit, where you contribute to getting others ready and strengthening society's preparedness for crises and war.
Your responsibilities and tasks
In the position of case officer within the Population Protection and Nuclear Energy Preparedness Unit, you will work to support and develop the unit's work in crisis preparedness and civil defense, with a special focus on evacuation, accommodation, and population movements.
The work includes:
- contributing to strengthening capabilities within population protection
- producing and developing knowledge, guidance, and steering within the field
- providing support and advice to actors at local, regional, and national levels
- collaborating with civilian and military actors within total defense
- producing knowledge bases that enable planning and capability development
Your knowledge and competencies
We are looking for you who have:
- an academic education or other experience that we assess as equivalent
- knowledge and experience of working within civil emergency planning or military operational planning
It is meritorious if you have:
- experience working in a County Administrative Board or within municipal/regional operations
- experience working with evacuation and accommodation
- experience working with total defense
- experience in planning to protect the population, especially within population protection
- experience in driving or participating in development work or government assignments
- knowledge within information security and security protection

About the position
We offer you a permanent full-time position starting with a probationary period.
Your place of work will be in Karlstad, and travel within the employment will occur.
The majority of our positions involve placement in a security class. Swedish citizenship is usually required. In the case of placement in a security class, a security check with register control will be conducted prior to employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Most employees at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency are war-placed.
About us
We work to strengthen population protection by coordinating planning and ensuring that the right measures are taken. We contribute to actors coordinating planning within population protection, regarding evacuation and accommodation, population movements, and important messages to the public and VMA.
The unit coordinates and contributes to the development of the state rescue services' responsibility in the event of releases of radioactive substances, as well as decontamination after releases of radioactive substances from a nuclear facility. The unit also conducts supervision of the County Administrative Board's responsibility for nuclear accidents.
We produce regulations, exercise supervision, and support authorities, municipalities, and regions in matters concerning rescue services, decontamination, warning to the public, and evacuation during crises. We also develop and coordinate systems for warning and information. The unit is led by a unit manager with the support of a deputy unit manager.
