About Us

The geriatric section is part of the Department of Medicine, which is the county's largest clinic. We enjoy the advantages of a medium-sized hospital, offering both breadth and specialization. Our operations include geriatrics, general internal medicine including emergency care at the emergency department and acute care ward (AVA), nephrology, cardiology, endocrinology, hematology, gastroenterology, palliative care and SSIH, neurology, and stroke.

The geriatric section has a well-functioning inpatient care unit as well as a highly reputable outpatient clinic specializing in cognitive medicine. Our goal is to develop geriatric care through a mobile team, an expansion of acute geriatric care beds, and by accepting patients for general geriatric consultations.

We work in a team-based environment. Our team consists of nursing assistants, nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, dietitians, social workers, neuropsychologists, and physicians. The work environment is pleasant, located in bright, newly renovated premises. The ward is Silvius-certified, which is evident in our daily care work. We in the medical group at geriatrics enjoy working together, helping each other, and leveraging each other's diverse knowledge.

Your Responsibilities

As a Resident Physician (ST) in geriatrics, your basic training will take place at the geriatric section. Here, together with consultants or specialists, you will care for and be responsible for the ward's patients, covering 16 care beds. You will work closely with other specialists to ensure a holistic approach to care, from diagnosis and treatment to rehabilitation and preventive measures. Your work will alternate between outpatient clinic duties and standard ward work.

During your common trunk period, you will work on other wards within the Department of Medicine and share responsibility for on-call duties with other Resident Physicians in the Department of Medicine.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for a licensed physician with an interest in geriatrics who wishes to start as an ST or BT physician. Here, you will have the opportunity to grow in your role and actively participate in the development of geriatric care.
