On behalf of SAAB, we are looking for strategic buyers for interim assignments with a long-term perspective in several locations. SAAB is a leader in the defense and management industry. The company works innovatively to develop advanced technologies and solutions to contribute to a better and safer world. The procurement function plays a key role in this development.

We are looking for you who have experience working strategically in business and thrive in the intersection between technology, business, and business development.

About the role

As a strategic buyer, you are responsible for creating long-term and sustainable relationships and business setups with the company's suppliers, often in an international context and in a complex, technically advanced environment. You are responsible for the entire commercial process – from strategy formulation and contracts to ensuring performance – and work in close collaboration with production, development, marketing, and after-sales.

This requires a structured approach, the ability to lead supplier teams, and a good understanding of both business value and total cost perspectives.

You will be responsible for, among other things:

• Developing and implementing purchasing strategies within defined areas
• Negotiating commercial terms and drafting supplier agreements
• Leading and coordinating supplier teams in collaboration with other functions
• Establishing and further developing relationships with both new and existing suppliers
• Overall responsibility for monitoring and analyzing supplier performance related to cost, lead time, quality, and delivery capability

Your profile

We are looking for you who have experience working as a strategic buyer, alternatively as a project or tactical buyer. We want you to have the ability to apply both strategic and operational perspectives in your role. It is meritorious if you have been involved in contract writing and negotiation with international suppliers, are accustomed to working with complex issues, and have a broad starting point in your analyses. We would like your working style to be characterized by structure, energy, and initiative, and that your surroundings perceive you as business-minded and trustworthy. To thrive in the role of strategic buyer, you should be unpretentious, have strong communication skills, and appreciate working in a team.

We particularly value:

• Ability to understand and analyze total cost over the lifecycle
• Interest in technology, preferably with experience from technical projects
• Good negotiation skills in complex and international environments
• Experience collaborating cross-functionally in larger organizations
• Ability to build good and long-term relationships

Formal requirements:

• Relevant academic background
• Several years of experience from business-driven roles – e.g., strategic purchasing or procurement
• Good communication skills in Swedish and English, both verbal and written

The position requires that you undergo and are approved according to the currently valid regulations for security clearance. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, Swedish citizenship may be required.

Possible locations: Linköping, Solna, Gothenburg, Karlskoga, Karlskrona

Scope: Full-time

Assignment: Consulting assignment, minimum 6 months, with a great possibility of extension and/or direct employment at SAAB.
