Statens institutionsstyrelse (SiS) is a government agency responsible for providing individually adapted compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse problems. SiS also implements closed youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse issues across the country. SiS Youth Home Bergsmansgården receives non-compulsory school-age girls. We have operations in Fjugesta, three miles west of Örebro, and a satellite unit in Gammelbo, 3 miles north of Lindesberg. The girls come to us due to psychosocial issues, as well as problems with crime or drug addiction.

Job Description

Do you want to be part of creating life-changing change for vulnerable people? Then the job as a Treatment Pedagogue at SiS is a meaningful challenge. As a treatment pedagogue, you work in a team together with treatment assistants and treatment coordinators, and together you are responsible for ensuring that the young people and clients living with us receive the security, care, and treatment they need. We often meet people in crisis, which means you work with qualified care and motivational work and act as a support in daily life. With the support of your knowledge in care and treatment work, you actively contribute to the completion of treatment plans.

Documentation is an important part of your work, contributing to legal security, planning, and follow-up of our operations. You contribute to maintaining safety according to our routines and help ensure that daily life flows smoothly with school attendance, cleaning, cooking, etc. Contact person duties are also part of your responsibilities. The job may also involve mentoring new employees and interns. This is a job for you who sees a positive challenge in working with vulnerable people in difficult life situations. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.

As a new employee, you will undergo SiS basic training. The training alternates between theory and guided introduction, equipping you for the therapist role in SiS operations.

Qualifications

To succeed in your work, you have a solid positive view of humanity. You are motivated to help people in vulnerable life situations and share SiS's core values, being a place for change. Furthermore, you have a good ability to create engagement and participation among our young people. As a person, you are secure in yourself and easily build relationships with young people as well as with other staff members. You have good communication skills and can maintain your calm even in stressful situations. You cooperate well with others and can handle conflicts constructively.

You must also have:

• A degree from a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or university college (KY/YH) with a focus on social/pedagogical treatment work, or education from a university that we assess as equivalent
• B driver's license
• Good Swedish in speech and writing

Meritorious

• Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations, e.g., work in psychiatry or LSS care
• Experience from client-facing positions in the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, e.g., Prison Officer
• Education in care and nursing

Employment:

The position is a permanent full-time position and begins with a six-month probationary period. Start date by agreement.

Working hours are according to a night schedule.
