About the position

As a counselor at Karolinska Gymnasium, you will primarily work with the Natural Science program and the Nature Management program, becoming an integral part of the school's student health team. You will work preventively and support students in their schooling, including coordinating social interventions for students who need extra support.

You will meet with students both individually and in groups, conduct support and crisis talks, and provide support in psychosocial matters. You will collaborate closely with teachers, guardians, the student health team, and external actors such as social services and child and adolescent psychiatry, contributing your expertise to the school's work for a safe and inclusive environment.

Examples of tasks:

• Conduct support, motivational, crisis, and conflict talks, as well as investigative, advisory, and processing talks with individual students and their families.
• Initiate and participate in networking work regarding students.
• Map and assess the social situation outside of school for individual students.
• Work with groups in acute situations and for preventive purposes.
• Work based on proven knowledge theories and evidence-based methods, participating in the work of drafting, implementing, and revising action plans.
• Provide professional supervision and consultation to school staff.
• Contribute a social and psychosocial perspective to the development of pedagogical activities.

About the workplace

Karolinska Gymnasium is one of Örebro Municipality's four upper secondary schools. The school has a rich history and is located in the heart of central Örebro. Approximately 900 students and 100 employees have the school as their workplace. The school offers education in the university-preparatory aesthetic, natural science, and social science programs, as well as the vocational Nature Management program.

Qualifications

You work independently with good structure and have a professional approach. You are sensitive and empathetic, build trusting relationships, and always keep the student's best interests in focus. You express yourself well in Swedish and have good digital competence. You master Swedish in speech and writing and document according to the organization's requirements.

Requirements:

• A Bachelor of Social Work degree (210 credits).

Merits:

• Experience working as a school counselor.
• Experience supervising teachers.
• Knowledge/experience of ICDP (guiding conversations).
