About the Heart Centre

The Heart Centre in Umeå aims to provide the best care for heart patients in Northern Sweden. We offer highly specialized cardiac care and have overall responsibility for the county's patients.

The Heart Centre includes the Cardiology Clinic, Thoracic Surgery, Cardiology, PCI Lab, Arrhythmia Unit, as well as Clinical Physiology and the Centre for Cardiovascular Genetics. We investigate, treat, and operate on patients from the entire northern region with diseases of the heart, lungs, and coronary arteries. By collaborating across boundaries, having efficient care chains, working with continuous improvement, and having competent staff, we can offer very high-quality care. We have approximately 400 employees at the Heart Centre.

Your Workplace

At the Cardiology department, we have approximately 20 assistant nurses and 30 registered nurses. The Cardiology department consists of the Ward (12 beds), the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (HIA) (5 beds), and the Investigation Unit, which is a week-care unit with 6 inpatient beds plus day care.

On our three units, there is a mix of planned activities, intensive care, and emergency cases from the emergency department.

Job Responsibilities

As an assistant nurse with us, you contribute knowledge and engagement that make people feel safe.

The patients on the cardiology ward come to us primarily via the emergency department, but may also come from another clinic, ward, or from HIA once the patient is stabilized. Your duties as an assistant nurse in cardiology offer great variety in terms of content and pace.

After you have learned the work on the ward, you will have the opportunity to further develop in the Cardiology Investigation Unit and HIA.

Here we are flexible and work independently with specialized cardiac care, where no two days are alike. As an assistant nurse with us, you work close to the patient with a focus on good nursing and specialized cardiac care in teamwork together with registered nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, and social workers.

Since NUS is a teaching hospital, supervision of students is also included.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with a completed assistant nurse education. Since "undersköterska" is a protected title, you need to provide a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen), or alternatively an employment certificate that places you under the National Board of Health and Welfare's transitional provisions, allowing you to use the title until June 30, 2033.

We value previous experience and knowledge within hospital care, but it is not a requirement. To thrive with us, we see that you are flexible, cooperative, and positive. You enjoy working in a team and also take personal responsibility and structure your workday.
