The Centre for Musculoskeletal Research and Care is a university hospital unit with operations in Umeå and approximately 225 employees. Together with the Surgery and Orthopedic Clinic in Skellefteå and Lycksele, we are responsible for all orthopedic care in the county. The Centre for Musculoskeletal Research and Care in Umeå is a University Hospital Unit (USVE) where research and student supervision are a natural part of clinical daily life.

Our diverse activities within the Centre for Musculoskeletal Research and Care are seen as stimulating by our staff, as the operations are divided into different sections that provide varied work and a solid medical knowledge base. We offer a service with both breadth and depth, covering everything from assessments of patients' orthopedic problems, both acute and elective. This takes place in emergency services, at outpatient clinics, on wards including our newly opened KUA (Clinical Education Unit), and in surgery with extensive orthopedic surgery for fractures/trauma, spine, prosthetics, tumors, ankle/foot, shoulder, knee, sports medicine, and pediatric orthopedics.

We are now looking for two Assistant Physicians for the Orthopedic Section at the Centre for Musculoskeletal Research and Care in Umeå!

Job Description

As an Assistant Physician here, you contribute to taking good care of others and helping people feel better.

You will work both at our outpatient clinic and on the wards as well as in the operating room. The work is varied, and you play an important role in patient care. In addition to medical work, the job involves building relationships and being a compassionate human being, both for our patients and their relatives, as well as towards our staff.

The position includes on-call duties during day and evening shifts until 21:00 according to the current schedule, and you will have ongoing contact and collaboration with other clinics. The work is carried out under supervision and in close cooperation with experienced colleagues, providing excellent opportunities for learning, development, and specialization within the broad field of orthopedic surgery.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are engaged and have an interest in orthopedics. You have a medical degree or alternatively a Swedish medical license with permission to work within Swedish healthcare, and you have good knowledge of the Swedish language corresponding to level C1. Previous experience from surgical specialties is considered an asset.

In addition to formal qualifications, you should have good judgment, good collaboration skills, contribute to your own competence development, and be involved in the varied tasks that arise.

You have an interest in surgical techniques and methods. You are a good listener and have the ability to understand the patient's needs and expectations, as well as to convey relevant information in a clear, secure, and caring manner. Furthermore, you are patient and can work with patient cases in a often fast-growing hospital environment.
