Maintenance is one of the most critical functions at Billerud. This is where we ensure that all our production equipment operates safely, efficiently, and with the highest possible availability. Every day, our employees work to create stable operations, develop technology, and maintain a world-class safe working environment. Do you want to contribute to a sustainable and reliable tomorrow? Then this role might be right for you.

This role operates within Operational Technology (OT), where IT infrastructure is used to operate and secure industrial processes in a business where availability is business-critical. Your mission is to contribute to the stable operation and development of our production-proximity systems. You will work closely with the business and become a key part of strengthening our technical environment in terms of networks, servers, and security. This entails, for example:

  • Operation, development, and maintenance of networks, servers, and client environments
  • IT security work related to production-proximity systems (e.g., patching, segmentation, and monitoring)
  • Troubleshooting and incident management in close collaboration with the business
  • Life cycle management of systems and hardware
  • Documentation of networks, systems, and solutions
  • Participation in, and as needed leading, projects within production, digitalization, and cybersecurity
  • Collaboration with suppliers, integrators, and internal functions

Here, you will work in an environment where technology, teamwork, and continuous development go hand in hand. The role involves varied working days and close collaboration with both IT, automation, production, and maintenance.

Why us?

  • We put Safety First! At Billerud, we all take responsibility for contributing to a safe working environment. Read more about our Safety First initiative here.
  • A technically advanced environment where IT meets production in business-critical systems
  • Great opportunity to influence and develop the OT area forward
  • A role with breadth and real impact on the business
  • Good opportunities for competence development
  • An engaged team where safety and innovation are in focus
  • Performance-based bonus, occupational pension, and a range of other benefits according to company policy.
  • Opportunity for hybrid work according to company standards.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with an IT background who wants to take the step into an industrial environment – or who already works in the borderland between IT and production. To succeed in the role of Network Engineer, we believe you have:

  • Post-secondary education in IT, or equivalent work experience
  • Practical experience working with networks (e.g., switches, firewalls, VLANs)
  • Good system understanding and habit of troubleshooting
  • Experience with Windows Server/clients and virtual environments (e.g., VMware or equivalent)

We know that few can do everything from the start. It is a plus if you have experience with any of the following, but it is not a requirement:

  • Work in production-proximity or industrial environments
  • Understanding of industrial protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC, or similar)
  • Certifications in networking or IT security

Personal Attributes

We place great importance on your personality. For this role, we are looking for you who enjoy taking responsibility for stable operations and long-term solutions, which requires you to work in a structured and meticulous manner in your daily work. You are good at collaborating and building trust, as the role involves close dialogue with both IT, production, and maintenance. At the same time, you are curious and solution-oriented – you are motivated by understanding how things work and finding improvements in a complex environment.

Our values are important to us, and we believe you identify with: Care for each other and we keep what we promise.
