About Us
The Rehabilitation Clinic is part of specialized care and operates at both locations of Blekinge Hospital. The clinic organizes the hospital's rehabilitation services, including inpatient wards and outpatient activities. We have 240 employees from various professions working to provide the county's residents with access to specialized rehabilitation in both inpatient and outpatient care, focusing on diagnostic groups within neurology, orthopedics, pain, and cancer rehabilitation. Ward 20 consists of 12 beds, divided into two teams, belonging to the Rehabilitation Clinic. We collaborate closely with the Medicine Clinic and the rest of the hospital.
Ward 20 is a rehabilitation ward where adult patients with various diagnoses are treated during the rehabilitation phase. This means that as a nurse, you will follow the patient through the entire rehabilitation process. On the ward, you will meet patients who, after a stroke, neurological disease, traumatic or anoxic brain injury, postoperative care, orthopedics, spinal cord injury, or other conditions, are in need of intensive rehabilitation within specialist care. Within Rehabilitation Medicine, there is significant research and development, and we work with continuous improvements. Are you curious and want to be part of this work – do not hesitate to submit your application!
In Karlshamn, the specialist team for spinal cord injuries is linked to the ward, meaning these patients arrive at an early stage to the ward's rehabilitation team. Patients with stroke or brain injury also arrive at an early stage for care and rehabilitation.
From Monday to Friday, we have a coordinator on the ward who handles all incoming calls during the day, is responsible for pulse rounds, attends SIP meetings, and supports nurses with various administrative tasks to free up patient time.
About the Job
The tasks on the ward are very varied. We have the privilege of following the patient from when they arrive acutely and through the entire rehabilitation period. We collaborate daily with several other professions (e.g., physiotherapist, occupational therapist, social worker, speech therapist), which can make a big difference for the patient. We work person-centered in interdisciplinary teams and value high patient involvement. A rehabilitation plan is created together with the patient and followed up regularly. The goal of rehabilitation is for the person to become as active and independent as possible, where we together coach the patient and offer training and treatment interventions.
Our tasks also include a large part of medical technical moments, where we, among other things, meet patients with PEG, intravenous lines, and tracheostomies.
As a nurse, you are continuously faced with new challenges, which helps you develop in your professional role. Ward 20 is a secure place to work; we can consult colleagues about anything. We care about each other and want new staff to feel welcome and be part of the group. With us, you get opportunities!
As a nurse on Ward 20, we offer you:
