About the ICU

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is part of the Department of Anaesthesia, Surgery, and Intensive Care. The department is of a general nature, where we provide intensive care from several departments such as medicine, surgery, and psychiatry. We perform postoperative care from several departments including surgery, orthopedics, urology, medicine, and dentistry. On our day surgery unit, we receive outpatient patients before and after planned operations/examinations. We have approximately 70 intensive care nurses and assistant nurses working with us.

Description

We offer stimulating work with a large variety of patients, from critically ill to less ill. As an assistant nurse on the ICU, you are an important part of the team around the patient, together with the responsible intensive care nurse and doctor. Within the department, several active development projects are ongoing in cross-professional groups consisting of assistant nurses, nurses, and doctors, to develop quality and patient safety within our unit. Kungälv Hospital is a trauma center, which means we invest in internal training and competence development in this area.

Responsibilities

Standard duties as an assistant nurse on an intensive care unit. Your introduction is individual and adapted to you in consultation with your supervisor and manager at the department.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for you who are trained as an assistant nurse and who enjoy working in a team but also independently. You enjoy challenges, have the ability to be flexible, and can handle stressful situations in a calm and methodical way. We place great emphasis on good teamwork skills and a good attitude towards both patients and colleagues. It is an advantage if you have work experience from anesthesia, surgery, and/or intensive care or from emergency operations.

Protected professional title for assistant nurses

From July 1, 2023, assistant nurse is a protected professional title. This means that you will need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title assistant nurse within healthcare and social care.
