Workplace Description

The Research Group in Regenerative Neurobiology at the Department of Experimental Medical Science, Faculty of Medicine, conducts research on cell-based therapies for brain injuries and is at the international forefront in its field. The research group is led by Professor Malin Parmar and consists of both research and technical staff; in total, we are approximately 20 people in the group. We are now seeking a motivated and knowledge-driven postdoctoral researcher to work with advanced spatial imaging and analysis of stem cell transplants for Parkinson's disease. The project utilizes the newly installed MACSima platform for high-dimensional multiplex protein imaging of neural grafts. Tasks and Responsibilities

The postdoctoral researcher will establish, optimize, and implement workflows for multiplex spatial imaging, including panel design, tissue analysis, image processing, and integration with existing single-cell and histological datasets.

The tasks include:

  • Analysis of neural grafts using the MACSima platform
  • Establishment and optimization of multiplex imaging panels and workflows
  • Tissue processing, immunostaining, and experimental planning
  • Image analysis and quantification of spatial data
  • Integration of imaging data with histological and single-cell datasets
  • Compilation and presentation of scientific results
  • Participation in manuscript writing and scientific presentations

Qualifications

Requirements for the position are:

  • A PhD in neurobiology, stem cell biology, or equivalent
  • Documented experience in tissue analysis and immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescence
  • Experience with microscopy and image analysis
  • Strong ability to work independently and drive projects forward
  • Good teamwork skills and experience working in an international research environment
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English

Merits for the position include:

  • Experience with multiplex imaging, spatial omics, or high-dimensional analysis platforms
  • Experience with single-cell data analysis or bioinformatics workflows
  • Experience working with stem cells, organoids, or transplantation models is an advantage

Other Information

Fixed-term full-time employment for 6 months.

Start date October 1, 2026, or as agreed.
