Do you want to ensure that the railways of the future operate safely and reliably, and work with safety-critical systems that affect thousands of people every day? We are now looking for a Development Test Engineer for one of Sweden's most advanced technical fields.

The railway industry is facing major investments and extensive technical development. We are looking for a Development Test Engineer who wants to verify software that controls everything from interlocking systems and switches to barriers and signaling systems – solutions that contribute every day to safer, more efficient, and more sustainable rail traffic. Here you will have the opportunity to work with complex technical systems in an industry that plays a central role in the green transition.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Development Test Engineer, you will become part of a team responsible for the verification and testing of software within the railway's signaling systems. The team works with safety-critical systems where quality and reliability are crucial.

The role is broad and combines technical analysis with the development of test environments and automated tests.

You will primarily work with:

  • Understanding the product's functionality and requirements
  • Analyzing requirements, documentation, and system behaviors
  • Investigating error reports and supporting developers in troubleshooting
  • Participating in projects related to new or upgraded signaling systems and interlockings
  • Analyzing test results and identifying areas for improvement
  • Developing and maintaining test environments
  • Building and further developing automated tests
  • Writing and improving Python scripts
  • Working with Jenkins and test automation workflows
  • Contributing to continuous improvements of the team's tools and processes

You will work in an environment with simulators, communication interfaces, and internal test tools used to verify that complex railway systems function according to requirements and safety standards.

Here you get the opportunity to work with technology that makes a real difference. The railway industry is growing rapidly and plays a central role in the future's sustainable transport systems. You will work with large, complex, and society-critical systems where software, hardware, and automation interact. From trackside equipment and signaling systems to web interfaces and automated test platforms – the role offers a unique breadth and fantastic development opportunities for you who want to build deep technical competence.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We believe you are at the beginning of your career and have a strong technical interest. The most important thing is not that you know railways from before – but that you are curious, driven, and motivated to understand how complex systems work in depth.

The requirements for the role are:

  • A Master's or Bachelor's degree in fields such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Technical Physics, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Programming skills in Python
  • Experience with Unix environments
  • Interest in testing, verification, and troubleshooting
  • Ability to understand complex technical systems

Merits if you have:

  • Experience with Jenkins
  • Knowledge in test automation
  • Experience with Robot Framework
  • Knowledge in Docker or Kubernetes
  • Experience with scripting and automated test environments

To thrive in the role, we believe you are:

  • Curious and willing to work with problem-solving
  • Driven and proactive
  • Analytical and solution-oriented
  • Interested in how systems work in practice, not just in theory
