The Maternal Health Care Centre in southern Kalmar County offers a temporary position as a midwife, based in Nybro/Emmaboda. As a midwife, your mission is to contribute to good sexual and reproductive health and minimize risks and morbidity for women and children during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period through promoting and preventive measures and identifying health risks. The Maternal Health Care Centre's activities include pregnancy monitoring, contraceptive counseling, gynecological cell sample checks, and youth activities.

In the role of a midwife with us, you work independently while continuously developing professionally and through personal meetings with many different types of people. You will follow expectant parents over a longer period, supporting them through pregnancy and into parenthood. Here, you will be part of the continuous development work that is integral to our daily operations. We offer ongoing training and work in process groups that you will be part of to develop and improve our work. Your working hours are scheduled during daytime, Monday to Friday.

Selection and interviews are conducted continuously, and the position may be filled before the application deadline. The position is a temporary contract until December 2026 and is expected to be filled in September.

About You

We are looking for you who are a registered midwife and have a desire to work within maternal health care. It is an advantage if you have prescribing rights, previous experience in maternal health care, and experience with the medical record systems Cosmic and Obstetrix. A driver's license is desirable as you will travel between family centers.

As a midwife, you are confident in your profession and accustomed to making and standing by your own decisions. You discuss and resolve issues together with your colleagues. You need to be independent in your work while also being able to collaborate with several professional categories at the family center, such as doctors, nurses, social workers, assistant nurses, and educators. We view a friendly and empathetic approach as one of your key qualities. You are flexible in your approach and see change and development work as a natural part of the job. Our work is characterized by good collaboration within the Maternal Health Care Centre together with others at the Women's Clinic, including both the gynecology and obstetrics departments. We are a moderately sized clinic, which creates conditions for a family-like atmosphere. The Maternal Health Care Centre is part of the Women's Clinic, and we work with preventive health care for health throughout life. Southern Maternal Health Care has its clinics at 12 family centers located in eight municipalities in southern Kalmar County. This facilitates collaboration for our patients within the relevant activities at the family centers, child health care, open preschools, and preventive social services. The Maternal Health Care Centre is one of the leading actors in sexual and reproductive health as well as public health. The goal of the Maternal Health Care Centre is to offer equal care of high standard.

Kalmar County Hospital is one of three hospitals in Kalmar County. The hospital is an emergency hospital with specialist care, maternity care, and neonatal care. Over 2,300 people work here to provide good care and high patient safety to the county's inhabitants.
