Nurse for Advanced Home-based Child Psychiatry (ABIHP)

Do you want to work closely with children and families in their home environment and make a real difference in their daily lives? We are now looking for a registered nurse to join our team, which consists of a social worker, an assistant nurse, and a nurse. Our current nurse is leaving, so we are recruiting a new colleague.

About ABIHP

ABIHP offers a flexible and time-limited intervention provided to children and adolescents with ongoing contact with Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BUP) at Sahlgrenska.

This is a short-term, needs-adapted intervention with a clear purpose, serving as a complement to existing care. It is always provided with the consent of the patient and guardians. The goal is to support the patient and family in current difficulties and facilitate their return to regular outpatient care.

Work is carried out through home visits, always accompanied by a colleague.

Your Responsibilities

As a nurse within ABIHP, you will, among other things:

• Monitor and observe the effects of psychiatric medications
• Conduct psychiatric assessments
• Provide psychoeducation to children/adolescents and their parents
• Hold supportive conversations – individually or with the family
• Support parents in interactions and daily situations
• Work towards the patient's return to their regular clinic
• During home visits, there are always two therapists present, and at least one guardian must be present. Conversations can take place jointly or individually depending on needs.

We are looking for you who:

• Are a registered nurse, preferably with further education in psychiatric care. Experience in psychiatric care and/or working with children and young people is required.
• Have an interest in family-centered work
• Enjoy working independently in a flexible role
• Have good collaboration skills and an engaged, empathetic approach

The Clinical Base Year is mandatory and lasts for the first year of your employment with us. It includes lectures, nursing guidance, and practical training of your profession at the Simulation Center.
