About the position
On our inpatient pulmonary medicine ward, you will meet patients in need of highly specialized care. You will learn advanced treatment and examination methods specific to pulmonary medicine. You will gain knowledge of medical technology in pulmonary care by learning to handle and interpret blood gases, various types of drainage treatments, non-invasive ventilation (NIV), high-flow oxygen therapy (Optiflow), transcutaneous carbon dioxide measurement (TOSCA), and extended sampling in cases of fluid accumulation in the lungs.
We investigate and treat major public health diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma. We also investigate respiratory failure and hypoventilation, initiate ventilator treatment, long-term oxygen therapy, and preparations for lung transplants. We treat patients with pleurisy, pneumonia, empyema, and various inflammatory lung diseases such as sarcoidosis and pulmonary fibrosis.
As a nurse, you are responsible for nursing care, medication administration, and medical technical equipment. We have 18 patient beds and work in teams consisting of one nurse and one assistant nurse, with additional resources strengthening the team when needed. Each team is responsible for six patients. We collaborate closely with the department's physicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, social workers, coordinators, and care coordinators.
On the department, we have a nursing specialist who will serve as a mentor during your onboarding and the beginning of your independent work. The nursing specialist is also available for bedside support, administrative support, and guidance in complex situations.
The position involves day and evening shifts. Weekend duty is included.

Qualifications
Requirements:
- Licensed Nurse (RN).
Merits:
- Experience working on a medical ward and/or in emergency care within somatic care.
