School Counselor 60% – Creating Safe and Developmental Learning Environments

About the Workplaces

Baldersskolan is a municipal primary school beautifully located in a villa area in western Danderyd, covering grades F-3 with approximately 200 students.

Kevinge Adapted Primary School, with a focus on subjects for grades 1-6 and subject areas for children in grades 1-9, is centrally located near Danderyd center (formerly Mörby centrum). Kevinge Primary School is also located here, with just over 170 students in various grades.

Responsibilities

As a school counselor with us, you work with psychosocial interventions, primarily through preventive and health-promoting work. The work takes place at the organizational, group, and individual levels and in close collaboration with colleagues in the student health team (also the safety team), other relevant staff, and guardians. You are the schools' expert in social legislation and study-social issues and collaborate with other authorities within the municipality, such as social services, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BUP), and Young Focus (field assistants).

Your work and the distribution of duties between the 2 schools are on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and one additional day (60% in total). You will collaborate with other school counselors within the Western Danderyd schools and Danderyd Municipality through, for example, professional supervision, network meetings, promoting attendance, etc.

Your responsibilities include:

• working to promote and prevent by actively participating in various contexts during the student's school day
• social investigation and mapping work
• conversations with students, individually and in groups
• crisis and conflict management
• supervising and supporting educators in matters concerning the students' social situation
• supporting colleagues in preparation for difficult conversations and contacts with guardians
• collaborating during transitions between different grades and schools
• leading systematic quality work within the safety and well-being area
• documenting in ProRenata

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have:

• a degree in social work (socionom)
• previous work experience as a school counselor
• digital competence for documentation and other administrative tasks
• very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
• experience and knowledge regarding students in need of support

It is meritorious if you have experience in preventive work against bullying as well as further education in supervision, CBT, or similar.

You have an easy time building good relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians. You often take the initiative for social contact and adapt your message to the target group. You are a very good listener who easily puts yourself in others' situations and understands their perspectives. You are stable and maintain a professional attitude in stressful situations. You have very good collaboration skills with both internal and external contacts, with the student in focus. Your work is based on the operations' needs and goals.

You have the ability to actively contribute to the student health team's engagement, professionalism, and focus on finding strength in what actually works really well and that we should be proud of, without losing sight of what we need to follow up on and can continue to develop. We place great emphasis on personal qualities.
