About the Project

"Support Vasa" is the Vasa Museum's biggest challenge since the salvage in 1961. Chemical degradation has weakened the wood, and the ship no longer supports its own weight. Since the ship was lifted from Stockholm's strait, it has rested in the same support cradle, but this now needs to be replaced and supplemented with an inner support structure.

The project takes place in a living museum, around and under one of the world's best-preserved wooden ships, which places completely different demands on precision and coordination than a conventional construction project. Currently, the assembly of the ship's new outer support structure is underway in parallel with the design of the inner structure.

Responsibilities

As a Project Manager, you are employed by Techtor and work on a consultancy basis for their clients. Your first assignment will be within the "Support Vasa" project in the role of Project Manager for the Vasa ship's new inner support structure.

You are responsible for driving the design process forward and ensuring that the work is carried out according to the project's control, schedule, and requirements. The role involves many contact points and requires that you can structure, follow up, and ensure that the right information and decisions are passed on in the project.

You will join a project where parts of the design are already set, but where you also have the opportunity to influence structure and working methods going forward. You will follow the project further into the execution phase, including trial assembly of the structure.

Your main areas of responsibility:

• Lead the daily design work and implement decisions according to project control
• Plan, conduct, and document design meetings, including the design kick-off
• Responsible for handling instructions and updating the specification of requirements
• Coordinate and synchronize documentation from involved consultants
• Ensure that the design schedule and deliveries follow the project's overall plan
• Prepare decision materials for design choices and cost estimates
• Responsible for boundary definitions and lead review processes
• Act as the BAS-P coordinator for occupational health and safety issues related to the design

Education, Experience, and Personal Qualities

• 4+ years of experience in construction or infrastructure projects
• Experience in project management or a role where you have driven design processes
• Good technical understanding of structures
• Fluent in Swedish, both spoken and written
• Advantageous with experience in technically complex projects
