Do you want to drive strategic procurement for vehicles and maintenance at Green Cargo in Stockholm?

Do you want to work on large and complex procurement deals that contribute to Swedish basic industry and sustainable freight transport? As a Senior Strategic Procurement Specialist for Vehicles and Maintenance at Green Cargo in Stockholm, you will lead tenders, contracts, and negotiations related to locomotives, wagons, maintenance, components, spare parts, and investments. You will have a business-close role with significant responsibility, close collaboration with technical specialists, and the opportunity to influence long-term decisions for Green Cargo's vehicle fleet. Here, you become part of a business with a clear societal mission, high procurement volumes, experienced colleagues, and a vehicle strategy towards 2030. We warmly welcome your application!

Your Employment Offer

At Green Cargo, you will get a senior role with great trust, a clear mandate, and the opportunity to influence both business and ways of working. You will become a central procurement partner to the vehicle organization and work closely with maintenance, vehicle management, technology, business development, and legal teams in complex tenders and contract matters.

You will become part of a values-driven organization where the focus, in addition to good business, is on sustainability, responsibility, and collaboration. Green Cargo offers an inclusive and open work culture where knowledge sharing, transparency, and joint development are valued. You are offered good working conditions and a work environment with clear goals, personal freedom, and trust to drive your assignment forward.

The role suits you if you want to combine business acumen, technical understanding, and long-term development work in a business where the right suppliers, the right contracts, and the right investments are crucial for Green Cargo's future vehicle fleet.

Your Responsibilities

In this role, you are responsible for qualified procurement processes where tendering, contracts, negotiation, and requirements setting need to align business, technology, and operational needs.

You will, among other things:

  • Lead tenders, negotiations, and contracts within vehicles, maintenance, components, spare parts, and investments.
  • Be responsible for maintenance contracts for locomotives and wagons, including preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Work with strategic suppliers and follow up on contracts, delivery performance, quality, and commercial terms.
  • Contribute to investment projects and the vehicle strategy towards 2035, linked to future locomotives, wagons, and workshop initiatives.
  • Develop specifications with technical specialists and drive category strategies based on business needs, market, risk, and supplier structure.
  • Conduct market and spend analysis and contribute to procurement forums, process development, and changed ways of working.
  • Collaborate and exchange experiences with Green Cargo's other strategic procurement specialists.

Worth Knowing

The position is located at Green Cargo's office in Hagastaden, Stockholm, in new central premises close to public transport. The role is full-time with the possibility of some hybrid work. Travel occurs, especially to the workshop in Eskilstuna and other relevant locations related to operations and suppliers.

You will become part of a small procurement team with senior procurement resources and report to the Procurement Manager. The leadership is characterized by clear goals, great trust, and support when needed. There are good opportunities to develop and take greater responsibility as the business and procurement function develop. We use tests in the process, and final candidates undergo background checks. Green Cargo is a drug- and alcohol-free workplace where random checks occur. Employment includes the obligation to be placed in wartime service.

Our Expectations

We are looking for you who have several years of experience in strategic procurement, category management, or similar work in a technical, industrial, or vehicle-related environment. You are accustomed to leading tenders, negotiating contracts, and handling suppliers where commercial, technical, and operationally critical perspectives are combined to make good business decisions.

You have experience with complex procurement processes and thrive where decisions take time, contract negotiations last longer, and multiple stakeholders are involved. It is meritorious with procurement related to investments, maintenance, machinery, vehicles, components, spare parts, or technical services. Experience from heavy industry, vehicles, workshops, paper, transport, or similar environments is relevant.

You have good technical understanding and can familiarize yourself with issues regarding machinery, vehicles, maintenance, components, workshops, and investments. You do not need to know the railway industry from the start, but you need to understand technical connections, ask the right questions, and be confident in dialogue with specialists within vehicles, maintenance, and technology.

As a person, you are experienced, resilient, and secure. You have patience for long processes and drive the work forward with structure, business acumen, and good judgment. You are self-initiating, analytical, and relationship-building, and you build trust internally and externally.

You are motivated by socially important operations where railway transport contributes to Swedish industry and sustainable transition. You see the value in long-term supplier work, well-crafted contracts, and investments over time. Good Swedish and English skills are required.
