Your new workplace
The Placement Unit is a central part of the social services' work with children and young people who, for various reasons, cannot live with their original families. Our mission is to ensure that placed children and young people receive good care and support based on both basic and special needs.
The unit is responsible for implementing, following up on, and developing foster care placements, as well as recruiting, investigating, and training foster homes and contact families. Within the Placement Unit, child secretaries, foster care secretaries, recruiters, and administrators work in close collaboration. The Placement Unit exercises authority according to the Social Services Act (SoL) and the Act with Special Provisions on Care of Young Persons (LVU).
The Placement Unit consists of two work groups, Team South and Team North, each led by a unit manager, supported by coordinators who act as operational supervisors. We are now looking for a Child Secretary for Team South.
How you contribute as a Child Secretary
The work is challenging, competence-building, and offers opportunities for personal development. As a Child Secretary, you are the responsible case manager for a number of children and young people placed in foster care. Your primary task is to, together with the Foster Care Secretary, follow up on the child's development during the placement and be responsible for all authority-related matters concerning the individual child, supported by the Social Services Act (SoL) and the Act with Special Provisions on Care of Young Persons (LVU). This involves regular follow-ups with the child and continuous collaboration with the child's parents, foster home, school, and other networks. We place great emphasis on the participation of children/young people in their care, their health, schooling, and contact with their biological network.
As a new employee, you will have access to a mentor and a step-by-step introduction to the various tasks. You will have good access to management and support in your work. We value our work environment and collegial support. You will be offered specific training in various methods such as ICDP, and you will participate in a county-wide training program regarding children and young people, which includes child interviews, risk and protective factors, and goal setting.
Your skills and experience
For this position, you need a degree in Social Work and a valid B-driver's license. We prefer that you have several years of experience in social work. Previous work within the social services' authority functions regarding children and young people is considered an advantage.
You have good communication skills, both verbal and written. Experience and knowledge in BBIC, MI, and ICDP are also seen as advantageous. As a person, you adapt easily to changing circumstances while being structured and able to work with a clear focus on goals.
Here, you have the opportunity to work according to the 6+2 work time model, which means 6 hours of on-site work per day. The remaining 2 hours are reserved for reflection, further education, and wellness activities. You are offered the possibility of holiday exchange, where holiday pay is converted into additional holiday days.
To succeed in the role, you need personal maturity, meaning you are emotionally stable, self-aware, and confident in yourself. You can distinguish between the personal and professional. You have empathetic abilities and are easy to collaborate with.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability!
