About Passalen

Passalen is a non-profit association working for a more inclusive society that sees the potential in every child. We create inclusion for children and young people with disabilities who need support organizing their leisure time, finding a friend, or trying out holiday work. We also run activities that promote meetings between people.

Passalen is covered by a collective agreement and operates in several locations across Sweden. As an employee here, you will develop and learn on the job while contributing to a more inclusive and socially sustainable society.

Program-specific information

Passalen’s operations are carried out through various programs and projects. In this role, you will primarily work in Club by Passalen (Klubbar by Passalen). Club by Passalen is a program that offers children and young people with disabilities the opportunity to participate in open leisure activities, such as activities at youth centers, swimming pools, and sports facilities. We act as a bridge to enable children and young people with disabilities to take part in open leisure time. We maintain dialogue with participants to create conditions for each individual's participation.

Through the program, participants receive support to join various activities, such as crafts, gaming, board games, and sports. The goal is to help participants meet new friends, develop their social skills, and increase their participation in society. We also conduct outreach work to reach our target group and let them know we exist. We do this by contacting participants via phone and visiting schools and other places where the target group is located.

In your role, you will also work in our program Weekend Club (Weekendklubben). Weekend Club is a pedagogical program where children and young people with disabilities are given the opportunity to practice social interaction in a small group based on interest. Participants are divided into groups based on broad interest areas such as gaming, sports, and art. Weekend Club is a recurring weekend activity where some groups meet on Saturday and Sunday one weekend a month, while other groups meet either on Saturday or Sunday every other weekend.

The activities take place at various locations depending on the group. All groups visit open meeting places from time to time. This could be a cinema, museum, gaming cafes, bowling alleys, or similar, depending on the group's theme.

Job Description

Your work as an activity leader primarily involves conducting various clubs in open leisure time together with our participants. A club could, for example, be an activity at a youth center such as baking, playing video games, or crafting, a visit to a swimming pool, or trying out a sport. During the weekend, you work in a group together with activity coaches. The work during the weekend involves carrying out planned activities according to the schedule. You ensure that the work flows smoothly and that your colleagues know what they are doing. Activities may include baking, playing computer games, crafting, or dancing – depending on the group.

You actively participate in the activities arranged and support all participants in joining based on their conditions, abilities, and needs. You are there as a role model and friend for Passalen’s participants, with the task of ensuring that every participant feels seen and welcome. Collaboration is an important part of the role; you should enjoy working in a team but also be able to work independently.

You also plan activities, school visits, and other tasks independently, in consultation with your nearest manager. During activities, you may have extra responsibility for the implementation, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and that all participants feel safe and engaged. The role of activity leader requires that you can structure and lead your shifts independently based on the organization's needs. In addition to the practical work with activities, simpler administrative tasks may occur; for example, you need to be able to work in Google Docs and Canva. You need to be proactive, self-reliant, and have the ability to drive the work forward.

This is a full-time position with varying hours. The work may be scheduled during daytime, evening time, and on weekends.

The employment begins in August 2025 and spans one semester until December 2025, with a chance of extension for the next semester.
