We are looking for a Detention Supervisor for the detention center in Mölndal for permanent employment and hourly temporary positions. At a defense unit, people who have received a rejection or deportation order and need to be available for enforcement are placed. A person can also be taken into custody if the right to stay in the country or identity needs to be investigated. Those taken into custody are deprived of their liberty and the operations are conducted around the clock. The work is based on current legislation where legal certainty, dignity, and security are important.

What does a Detention Supervisor do?

The role includes work with, among other things, service, surveillance, search, security, and motivating those in custody to follow decisions to leave the country. You conduct conversations during, for example, check-in and check-out, as well as to inform about decisions. You identify and handle any special needs among those in custody and lead activities for them. Furthermore, you ensure a calm, secure, and safe environment at the detention center through motivational conversations, conflict management, and carrying out, among other things, security checks and searches. Who are you?

We are looking for you who enjoy working in a group and have good cooperation skills, are receptive, and solve conflicts in a constructive way. You have good self-awareness and can distinguish between the personal and professional. Since the operations are dynamic, you need to be secure and stable even in stressful or pressured situations, maintain a realistic perspective, and focus on the right things. You need to have the physical and mental prerequisites to handle an environment where conflicts involving threats and violence may occur. You thrive with variation and easily adapt and change your viewpoint and approach when circumstances change.

It is important that you act in accordance with decisions made, the operational plan, goals, policies, and guidelines. The successful candidate has

  • Upper secondary education or equivalent knowledge acquired in other ways
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing
  • Good knowledge of English
  • Experience of work requiring good service and professional treatment
  • Swedish citizenship or permanent residence permit

It is meritorious if you have

  • Experience of working with people in vulnerable situations
  • Experience of social work, such as work with care, mental health, addiction, or similar
  • Experience of working in a locked environment, such as detention, correctional services, forensic psychiatry, or similar operations
  • Experience of conflict management and motivational conversations
  • Category B driver's license

Information

Employment type: Permanent employment with possible probationary period, as well as specific fixed-term employment based on operational needs (hourly employment).

Working hours: Scheduled working hours. Day-evening-weekend-night.

Location: Mölndal

Start date: As agreed in connection with introduction sessions.

Salary: Individual salary setting in the range of 28,500–32,500 SEK.

The Swedish Migration Agency will conduct checks in the police's suspicion and criminal record register before making a decision on employment.

You will undergo a mandatory introduction for two weeks during daytime before you start working in the operations. The first session is planned for week 36 and will be conducted on several occasions during the autumn.
