Your Assignment

As a systems engineer, you work in a DevOps team within the Technology Department. The team's mission is to develop, deploy, and maintain technical acquisition systems focused on radio communication.

The work takes place in both Linux and Windows-based systems in close collaboration with developers in the field. Troubleshooting and correcting hardware or software errors is part of the daily routine. We work agilely with inspiration from the SAFe model.

In the role of systems engineer, your main responsibilities are to be responsible for the installation and maintenance of production and test environments for acquisition systems focused on wireless communication, primarily in the form of:

  • Implement and maintain complex technical systems for acquisition within signals intelligence
  • Develop development, test, and lab environments together with system developers
  • Maintain, operate, and document systems
  • Systematization and configuration of large-scale systems, primarily Linux-based but also Windows
  • Verification and troubleshooting in large systems
  • Support, installation, and upgrades
  • Training of operational personnel

You will have extensive contact with other departments within FRA and to some extent also external contacts and suppliers, which means that travel may occur both domestically and internationally.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for you who have:

  • University/college education in IT/technology or equivalent experience working with maintenance and operation of various IT/Technology environments
  • Knowledge of IT automation tools such as Ansible.
  • Knowledge of virtualization and container technologies.
  • Experience in administration, operation, and management of Linux-based environments
  • Good understanding of operation, installation, and management of large-scale systems
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English. Good ability to write and document
  • Category B driver's license

We consider it meritorious if you meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Education in radio technology or electronics
  • Experience with RF and measurement technology
  • Practical experience troubleshooting electronics at the component level
  • Knowledge of network administration
  • Experience with IT security and system hardening
  • Ability to read drawings (block and connection diagrams)
  • Basic programming skills

More Information

The workplace is located near Drottningholm, approx. 10 minutes from Brommaplan. Swedish citizenship is a requirement as employment at FRA involves placement in a security class. A requirement for employment is a passed security clearance with register control. The security clearance will be conducted in accordance with provisions in the Security Protection Act. Employment entails an obligation to be placed on war footing. We apply a six-month probationary period, and work trials may be used as part of the selection process.
