Welcome to the Language and Competence Centre!
We are looking for you who want to lead one of Borlänge's most multifaceted and significant operations – where every day makes a real difference. Language, culture, democracy, and special education in a fantastic symbiosis!
The Language and Competence Centre is part of Borlänge Municipality's preschools and primary schools. The unit has one unit manager, three deputy unit managers, and approximately 105 employees. The operations of the Language and Competence Centre are geographically spread across Borlänge with itinerant teachers and premises in different locations, but they will be merged and housed under the same roof during the planned move to the new primary school at Haga. Currently, the unit manager has an office at Utanforsvägen 4 along with parts of the Language and Competence Centre's operations.
The Language and Competence Centre consists of central special education groups, emergency school, holiday school, Culture Centre Asken, the Tolerance Project, mother-tongue teachers, study guidance, Welcome Centre, reception of newly arrived immigrants, and a special educational team. The goal of these is to be a support and complement to Borlänge's school and preschool activities and thereby contribute in various ways to increased goal achievement for the students. The Language and Competence Centre has a close collaboration with both local and central child and student health services.

Job Responsibilities
The role involves operational and budgetary responsibility for the entire Language and Competence Centre, as well as personnel and working environment responsibility for 10–15 employees, including the unit's three deputy unit managers and other pedagogical professional roles.
As unit manager, you are responsible for the overall working environment, that the operations comply with laws and agreements, and that systematic quality work is conducted within the operations. In the assignment, you lead, organize, set requirements, support, and follow up on operations in a way that promotes and leads to the achievement of set goals.
Qualifications
Basic requirements for the position:
- University education in humanities, pedagogy, or another area that the employer deems relevant for the position
- Several years of experience in working as a manager, including budgetary responsibility
- Very good knowledge of Swedish in both speech and writing
- Category B driver's license
- Good digital competence

Even in more challenging situations, you maintain your calm, stand firm in your leadership, and remain constructive and forward-looking. You are motivated by creating results and have the ability to turn strategic goals into concrete activities that move the operations forward.
Meritorious qualifications:
- Knowledge in special educational work, practical aesthetic learning processes, and language development
- Knowledge of preschool and school curricula and the democratic mission
- Role involving managerial responsibility over other managers
- Leadership training
- Experience/knowledge in data-driven systematic quality work
