Job Description

Mälardalen University is looking for a caretaker (Facility Technician) for Campus Eskilstuna at the Department of Infrastructure and Security, placed within the Premises and Services unit.

In this role, you will work to provide an open, safe, and sustainable physical and digital educational and research environment for the university's students, employees, and partners.

This includes, among other things, supporting teachers in teaching situations, students, and other visitors through supervision and follow-up of cleaning, security, mail and goods handling, support and troubleshooting of AV equipment in classrooms and meeting rooms, as well as other technical support, room booking, purchasing of consumables, office moves, cable management, systematic fire safety work, and other service functions.

Working as a caretaker involves significant responsibility and varied tasks where no two days are alike.

In your work, you will use case management systems and other digital support systems.

The role may involve heavy lifting, and travel between and within the campuses in Västerås and Eskilstuna is frequent.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• Completed upper secondary education,
• Good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in both Swedish and English,
• Experience working with various IT systems and proficiency in MS Office,
• Ability to take responsibility for planning, organizing, and developing work, as well as working proactively and with foresight in the supervision of university premises,
• Ability to perform simple carpentry work, replace ceiling tiles and fixtures, and have some knowledge/understanding of electrical installations.
• Good physical fitness is required as the work involves recurring heavy lifting,
• Good teamwork skills combined with the ability to work independently,

Merits

For this position, the following are considered meritorious:

• Experience in similar service work with knowledge of AV technology and digital meeting platforms, preferably in a public authority.
• Completed training in boom lifts, scissor lifts, physical work environment, systematic fire safety, and training in AV (audiovisual technology): sound, light, image, and streaming technology.
