Norrbotten Regiment, I 19, is one of Sweden's largest regiments. I 19 is tasked with producing combat units for the Norrbotten Brigade, NmekB 19.
The units are specialized in assault combat in a sub-Arctic environment and use, among other things, Stridsfordon 90 (CV90) and Stridsvagn 122 (Leopard 2A5).
FLF FIN (Forward Land Forces Finland)
From 2026, NmekB 19 will primarily focus on operating and serving with a force within the multinational force for FLF Finland. As an employee at NmekB 19 and 191. Pbat, you can become part of a historic mission for the garrison, the Norrbotten Brigade, the Swedish Armed Forces, and Sweden within the framework of NATO.
The current planning direction is that the majority of the force contribution will be stationed in Boden and conduct operations and readiness within the framework of NmekB 19 and FLF FIN in both Sweden and Finland.
Job Responsibilities
As a specialist nurse with a focus on district or emergency care, you must be able to independently assess and care for patients in environments where resources and accessibility may be limited. The position also involves performing advanced resuscitation measures and damage-limiting interventions under pressuring conditions to save lives, as well as stabilizing and caring for patients.
Common job responsibilities include:
- Perform resuscitation according to ABCDE.
- Treat illness at level 1 in the tiered care system.
- Triage and prioritize among the sick and injured.
- Be responsible for the unit's medicines and medical equipment, maintain the equipment, and ensure medical supplies are available on site.
- Prepare patients for transport and handover to another unit.
In addition, you will perform patient administrative work such as resource planning, patient documentation, reporting, and triage.
Daily work includes training to maintain the ability to handle acute medical cases, as well as daily healthcare duties. The position also includes military skills training to operate safely and contribute to the protection of personnel and patients.
All activities are conducted in accordance with the Health and Medical Services Act.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
- Licensed nurse with a specialist degree in district or emergency care. (Nursing program 180 hp + further education 60–75 hp).
- Clinical experience with at least two years of professional work.
- Military education, at least completed Basic Soldier Training (GSU).
- B-driver's license.
- Passed medical and physical tests according to the Swedish Armed Forces' requirement profile.
Personal Qualities
We are looking for you who have good work capacity to work well in a group but also independently and under difficult physical and psychological conditions. You are a good problem solver with good analytical skills. You must also be willing to undergo further education, both theoretical and practical. Great importance will be placed on personal suitability.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completed military basic training/conscription.
- Previous work within the Swedish Armed Forces.
- Completed MTRB, MTRA, Prehospital hypothermia, blood drawing, and acute transfusion.
- Military driving license for light armored terrain vehicle, heavy truck.
- Experience in prehospital work or disaster medicine.
Compensation for participation in FLF FIN for I 19
- Compensation according to the Swedish Armed Forces collective agreement regarding working hours and official travel. This may change if a new agreement regarding overseas service is concluded between the parties.
- The Battalion Task Force is on continuous operational readiness for 1–3 days during the readiness period. For operational readiness, you are compensated according to the collective agreement, currently 5,500 SEK per month.
- The parts of the unit placed on readiness under NATO command are also subject to an additional time-limited salary supplement of 5,500 SEK/month during the readiness period. The total monthly compensation for those placed on readiness under NATO command is therefore 11,000 SEK in addition to the base salary.
- You are expected to complete approximately 35–40 Swedish Armed Forces days per six-month period, the majority of which will be conducted in Finland.

Employment type: Opportunities exist for both permanent employment and fixed-term employment only during the readiness period. The Swedish Armed Forces apply a six-month probation period for those not already employed by the agency.

Information about the position
During the first phase of FLF, there will be extensive competence assessment and training. During the later phase of FLF, there are opportunities to do other work while on readiness. This could be as support to our Healthcare School, our Defense Health, or clinical service with the region according to individual agreement.

I 19 is one of Sweden's largest regiments with operations in Boden, Kiruna, Tåme, and Grubbnäsudden/Lomben. The main office and command are located in Boden. The regiment's most important task is to build combat units, and in the coming years, I 19 will gradually develop the new Norrbotten Brigade. By 2028, the regiment should be able to train, stock, and mobilize the entire brigade, including the associated functional units; command, field works, air defense, and logistics. The brigade should be able to conduct combat in all environments but be specialized for combat in the sub-Arctic environment of the North Calotte.
Employment with us involves placement in a security class. Swedish citizenship is usually required. Security clearance with register check will be conducted prior to employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Employment entails an obligation to be war-placed. The employment also includes an obligation to serve abroad. The meaning of this varies depending on the type of position.
