About the Organization

The Social Services Administration operates under the guidance of the Social Services Act, the Health and Medical Services Act, and the Act on Support and Service for Certain Persons with Functional Disabilities. Our mission is to promote economic and social security, equality in living conditions, and active participation in society, while providing high-quality care, health services, and support to the elderly, people with disabilities, and others in need. The administration consists of the Assistance Unit, the Care and Support Division, the Disability Support Division, the Home Care Division, the Leadership Support Organization, and the Health and Medical Services Organization.

As a nurse in the Health and Medical Services Organization, you will join our unit of approximately 30 nurses, distributed across various areas and shifts.

Job Responsibilities

As a licensed nurse, you will be responsible for health and medical care interventions at our short-term care unit. You will share responsibility with a nursing colleague for the 18 beds currently available in the unit.

Your role involves coordinating high-quality care and support, working as part of a team focused on the individual patient and their relatives. The position also includes mentoring within the work team. We collaborate closely with occupational therapists, physiotherapists, nursing assistants, and the patient responsible doctor at the health center.

Patients in the short-term unit are individuals who temporarily cannot stay at home due to illness, fractures, palliative care needs, or recovery after hospitalization. Stays are always temporary, meaning you will play a key role in coordinating admissions and discharges. A decision on assistance is required to secure a place in the unit.

You will be part of a larger group of nurses distributed across different areas. We maintain close collaboration between colleagues, units, and the municipality's responsible nurse for medical care.

Qualifications

You must be a licensed nurse. Additional education relevant to the role or experience in similar work is advantageous. You should be confident working independently as well as in a team with other staff. We value a solution-oriented and flexible approach. Personal suitability is highly valued. A valid driver's license (Category B) is required.

Under the National Minority Language Act, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative authority for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is advantageous when applying for employment in Gällivare Municipality.

Working Hours / Duration

Full-time position during daytime hours with some weekend duties.

Gällivare Municipality offers reduced working hours to all permanent nurses within the Social Services Administration.

A probationary period may apply.
