To ensure that all animals in Sweden have the conditions to live as good a life as possible, there are the District Veterinarians (Distriktsveterinärerna). With 24/7 standby, clinics throughout the country, and unique knowledge of animal health, we contribute to healthier animals and a safer life. As district veterinarians, we work on behalf of private individuals, companies, and authorities. We offer socially essential services for emergency animal care, disease control, and preventive measures for good animal health. Always with our feet on the ground and our hearts in the right place. The District Veterinarians are part of the Swedish Board of Agriculture (Jordbruksverket).

The district consists of two clinics, a smaller one in Piteå and a larger one in Älvsbyn. The clinic in Älvsbyn is equipped with X-ray, dental equipment, and surgery facilities for small animals.

The clinic in Piteå is primarily adapted for our field operations, featuring a large, well-equipped garage with excellent opportunities for cleaning equipment directly outside the vehicle. The premises are also equipped with two nice rooms for simpler small animal consultations. The work there consists mainly of cattle and horses, but also some cats and dogs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a veterinarian, you will be part of the standby work which geographically covers southern Norrbotten. We are steadily increasing our operations with horses and small animals. During standby periods, there are no referral centers for horses, so difficult situations may arise that require a bit more from you as a veterinarian.

You will be stationed in Älvsbyn, but working in Piteå is included in the position. We also assist other clinics in the surrounding area in case of staff shortages.

We cover a relatively large area, which may involve longer car drives. Driving is a natural part of the job, and you need to feel comfortable with it. Taking personal responsibility and making independent decisions are part of everyday life.

We are looking for someone who enjoys the variety we offer regarding animal species, as all types of animals are present in our standby work.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who are a licensed veterinarian and have previous experience in veterinary work, standby duties, and the medical record system Link.

As a person, you are flexible and service-oriented towards our customers and colleagues. You should enjoy working independently but of course with the support of the work group. Furthermore, you have good judgment and make decisions in line with the District Veterinarians' guidelines.

A valid driver's license (Category B) is required.
