Operating Room Assistant for Vascular Surgery Section, Kirurgcentrum Umeå

The primary goal and task of Kirurgcentrum Umeå is to provide highly specialized and high-quality care and research for patients within the northern healthcare region. The clinic is divided into sections for urology, breast, endocrine, vascular, colorectal, and upper gastrointestinal surgery, conducted in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

The Vascular Surgery Section is responsible for all vascular surgical care within Region Västerbotten, as well as highly specialized vascular surgery within the Northern Healthcare Region. The department investigates and treats patients with diseases in the neck vessels, the large body artery (aorta), vessels to abdominal organs, peripheral vessels in the extremities, and certain venous diseases. The section also performs surgeries for dialysis access, as well as trauma and tumor surgery in collaboration with other clinics. Both open and endovascular surgery are performed here. The section currently consists of a guest professor, 4 consultants, 2 specialists, and one resident. At the unit, a specialized vascular nurse, a screening nurse, and an operating coordinator work. Our work is characterized by close collaboration and high specialist competence.

The endovascular operations have developed strongly in recent years and continue to grow. We are now looking for an operating room assistant with an interest in interventional activities who wants to contribute to our work. Previous experience in the field is not a requirement – introduction and training take place at the workplace in close collaboration with experienced colleagues to gradually step into the role.

The work is performed during daytime, Monday to Friday, and the assignment can be combined with other work within Kirurgcentrum's operations depending on your competence. Job Description

As an operating room assistant with us, you contribute with your unique knowledge and commitment to the building and development of the vascular surgical operations. Your role is significant, and your work requires both teamwork and independence.

The tasks are varied, consisting of both practical and administrative duties, and are performed in very close collaboration with the medical group and other staff in the team. Your role includes, among other things, assisting in certain open and endovascular procedures performed at our own unit, as well as handling materials and the material store.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with a completed operating room assistant education. Since "undersköterska" is a protected title in Sweden, you need to provide a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen), or alternatively an employment certificate that allows you to fall under the National Board of Health and Welfare's transitional provisions and use the title until June 30, 2033.

You need to have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written. We are looking for you who are engaged, positive, curious, quality-oriented, and self-initiating. Both tasks and work pace vary with us, so you should enjoy variety and be able to adapt easily based on what the situation and person require.

Employment type: Fixed-term employment.
Duration: 6 months or longer.
