Workplace and Environment

The rural health clinics are part of the Primary Care Area Southern Lapland, which is a model area in the work of transitioning to close care. With functioning collaboration and a focus on the citizen, we drive important change processes within the region and together with the municipality. Remote clinical assessment and digital care meetings are developing rapidly and are an important part of securing good, close, and accessible care in this area. Therefore, it is no coincidence that we are at the forefront in this area. The rural health clinic model, which is an important starting point for close care, influences both attitude and working methods in the daily operations of the business.

The rural health clinics in Dorotea, Vilhelmina, and Åsele are part of the same basic unit and are located in Southern Lapland, five miles apart. The nearest hospital is in Lycksele, where the county's ambulance helicopter is stationed.

Our rural health clinics function as well-equipped mini-hospitals with access to emergency care beds, X-ray, ambulance services, and a laboratory. Our use of telemedicine is well developed. Here you will find occupational therapists, midwives, physiotherapists, counselors, doctors, psychologists, secretaries, nurses, and assistant nurses. We provide emergency care as well as routine work at the health center and have a well-developed collaboration between all our professional groups and with the municipalities.

We collaborate with universities and host students. We also collaborate with the Center for Health in Rural Areas, an area that is high priority, and exciting development work is underway.

About the Position

We are now seeking a specialist in general medicine for our rural health clinic in Vilhelmina. Work across the entire basic unit may occur, but your main workplace will be the rural health clinic in Vilhelmina.

Responsibilities

As a specialist in general medicine with us, you contribute knowledge and commitment that make people feel safe. The units are popular among training doctors, and supervision is an important task.

In the role of specialist in general medicine, you follow your patients throughout their lives. You meet people of all ages with all kinds of health-related problems and conduct independent assessment and treatment.

Requirements and Qualifications

You are a licensed physician with specialist certification in general medicine and with experience of or interest in primary care. Experience in rural medicine and interest in supervision and supervisor training are meritorious.

You are a present and positive person who, with expert knowledge and care, sees the patient and contributes to a holistic view that makes the care process better and safer.

You are a secure person who contributes to good collaboration, through your good communication skills and respectful treatment. The job requires independence and problem-solving, making ongoing decisions in the correct order. As a person, you can handle parallel work tasks. You are solution-focused and can adapt to changes in working methods and operations. You enjoy working in a team where lack of hierarchy is key to helping, learning from, and lifting each other up.
