Regional Laboratory Medicine belongs to Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Area 4, and has a clear coordination mandate for the entire Region of Västra Götaland. The organization consists of the laboratory medicine operations at Södra Älvsborg Hospital, Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Hospitals in the West, and NU Hospital Group.

Organization Description

We are now looking for two employees for fixed-term positions who wish to work with us within Pathology Laboratories 1 and 2. The Pathology Laboratory within Clinical Pathology at Sahlgrenska University Hospital is a developing operation, where we will introduce a new laboratory information system in 2026 while simultaneously driving extensive development focused on digitalization within both laboratory operations and diagnostics.

The laboratory has approximately 90 employees, mainly biomedical scientists, making us one of the largest pathology laboratories in the country. Here, we work with examining cell and tissue samples to identify pathological changes. Diagnostics are primarily performed using light microscopy, where the laboratory's task is to prepare and process tissue samples prior to analysis.

Job Description

At the Pathology Laboratories, we work in a team-based manner in close collaboration with several different professional categories, including laboratory technicians, laboratory assistants, nursing assistants, and doctors. In this role, you will work with varied and qualified tasks such as assisting with dissection and independently performing dissection, frozen sectioning, paraffin embedding, sectioning, scanning, and image review, as well as immunohistochemical and histological staining. The work also includes handling urgent samples. The position is initially placed within the breast and urology/gynecology sections, respectively.

Qualifications and Personal Attributes

We are looking for you who are a licensed biomedical scientist, where experience with specimen dissection and work in a histopathological laboratory is advantageous. To thrive and succeed in the role, we see that you have a strong commitment to the patient's best interests and contribute to a good work environment. You are a positive and flexible person with good teamwork skills and enjoy working in a team. Furthermore, you are solution-oriented, meticulous, and structured in your approach, and have good communication skills. You have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, as well as good computer skills.
