About Orust Municipality

Orust – the green and safe island where thoughts are free and dreams come to life. We invest in development, welfare, and our employees. We are proud that our latest employee survey showed that nearly 90% of our staff are proud to work for Orust Municipality. Welcome to us!

About the workplace

The Individual and Family Care department consists of three units, each led by a unit manager working in close collaboration. The Adult Unit handles support under the Social Services Act (SoL), the Act for Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments (LSS), social psychiatry, violence in close relationships, and harmful substance use and addiction. The Children and Young People Unit investigates the need for support and interventions for children and youth according to SoL and the Law with Special Provisions on Care of Young Persons (LVU). The Working Life and Sustainment Unit includes the labor market unit and financial assistance.

For us, development, creativity, and innovation are key components in meeting current and future needs. We aim to create operations that constantly evolve and adapt to people's varying needs for support and to societal developments.

Your responsibilities

We are developing our operations and are therefore looking for another occupational therapist to join the Working Life and Sustainment unit.

In this role, you will work with individuals of all ages, with a special focus on young adults who are neither working nor studying and are far from the labor market. This target group often needs coordinated, early, and individualized support, where interventions must be flexibly tailored to the individual's conditions.

The upcoming activity requirement within financial assistance mandates participation in active measures. In this context, the occupational therapist's role is central in assessing work capacity, adapting activities, and ensuring that interventions are both meaningful and realistic based on the individual's functional capacity.

By creating customized plans and collaborating with other actors – such as schools, healthcare, the Swedish Public Employment Service, and other municipal operations – we work to strengthen young people's opportunities to establish themselves in work or studies and to lead an independent and sustainable life. We work preventively, long-term, and evidence-based, with a clear focus on early and coordinated interventions. Our methods are based on supported employment, MI (Motivational Interviewing), and evidence from BIP research.

As an occupational therapist, you will work within the labor market unit with a special focus on young adults' establishment in work or studies.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Conduct work capacity assessments with a special focus on young adults subject to or eligible for the activity requirement
  • Map the individual's resources, obstacles, and need for adaptations related to working life or studies
  • Contribute to the design of interventions within the activity requirement, adapting activities to the individual's capacity
  • Plan, implement, and follow up on interventions for young people, both individually and in groups
  • Work in a motivating and supportive manner during change processes towards self-sufficiency
  • Contribute to the development of methods for the target group, especially in the boundary area between support and requirements

You work in a cross-professional team with supervisors, labor market consultants, social secretaries, rehabilitation counselors, and other professional groups to create coordinated and effective interventions.

Documentation and follow-up occur at both the individual and operational levels.

About you

In this position, you are a licensed occupational therapist. We prefer that you have experience with work capacity assessments and/or work rehabilitation. Experience working with young adults or individuals needing coordinated interventions is also meritorious, as is education in supported employment and MI.

You have a strong commitment to working with young adults in vulnerable life situations. You have the ability to combine a supportive approach with clarity regarding requirements and expectations. We also value that you are relationship-building, structured, and solution-focused, and that you thrive in collaboration and can actively contribute to the development of operations. You have a positive outlook and believe that all individuals have their own resources, even if they sometimes need help seeing them.

We place great importance on personal suitability.

Finally, you, like us, enjoy going to work!
