The Adapted Primary School in Sandviken should be characterized by a school where we make each other better!

The mission of the Adapted Primary School is to promote learning where the individual is stimulated to acquire and develop knowledge and values. The school, in collaboration with the home, should promote students' all-round personal development into active, creative, competent, and responsible individuals and citizens. The school should be characterized by care for the individual, consideration, and generosity.

Sandviken Municipality also has a long tradition of investing in IT in schools, where every student has their own computer. Now, the schools are entering the Next Generation of Learning, a development where digital competence provides new opportunities in students' learning processes and serves as a tool for creation, communication, and collaboration.

Job Responsibilities

As a student assistant, you are part of one of our work teams and work closely with teachers and other student assistants. The assignment involves contributing to a safe, structured, and stimulating learning environment based on each student's needs. The work requires flexibility, relationship-building skills, and clear, warm leadership. You work together with colleagues in a solution-oriented manner in everyday life to meet students' unique needs and sometimes challenging behaviors.

You contribute by:

• Supporting students individually and in groups based on their prerequisites
• Creating safety, structure, and positive learning situations
• Using digital learning materials in daily work
• Collaborating with colleagues to plan, implement, and follow up on activities
• Contributing with a solution-focused and student-centered approach

We make each other better by:

• Collaborating closely in the work team
• Sharing knowledge and experiences to develop teaching
• Supporting each other in creating a safe and inclusive learning environment

Qualifications

The assignment requires a person who can create safety and structure while the everyday life sometimes changes quickly. In the meeting with the students, a calm, respectful, and curious attitude is important. To succeed in the role, you need to be able to read situations and adapt your working methods to the students' needs. You contribute to the collaboration in the work team and are involved in finding solutions that benefit the students' development. By maintaining focus even in challenging moments and being open to new working methods, you help shape a safe and predictable learning environment.

For the assignment, the following is required:

• High school diploma
• Good knowledge of Swedish, both orally and in writing
• Deep interest in intellectual disability and autism

We would like you to have experience working with students with intellectual disabilities. Experience working within subject areas and knowledge of AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), such as sign support or picture support, is meritorious.
