About the position

Innovitaskolan Södertälje is now looking for an engaged and attentive student assistant for one of our middle school students for the upcoming school year. This specific position includes medical responsibility in daily life, as the student has Type 1 diabetes. You will be the student's extended arm and source of security when it comes to monitoring and managing the disease during school hours.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Monitor the student's blood sugar levels via technical aids, and act proactively in case of high or low blood sugar values.
  • Assist in calculating insulin dosage based on what is served in the cafeteria and any physical activity.
  • Create structure, predictability, and security in the student's school day.
  • Act as a link and maintain close dialogue with the student's guardians.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who is calm, stable, and self-assured. You have the ability to build good relationships with children and possess great patience. Since the role requires medical attention, you are meticulous, responsible, and stress-resistant.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children/young people, preferably within school or leisure activities.
  • Advantageous: Previous experience or knowledge of Type 1 diabetes (e.g., as a nurse assistant, childcare worker, or through personal experience).
  • Fluent Swedish in speech and writing for good communication and documentation.

Great importance will be placed on personal suitability. The school offers a thorough introduction and training regarding the student's specific diabetes care before you begin your assignment.
