About the Operations
Karlslundsskolan is a well-functioning F-9 school located in central Vallentuna with easy access to good transportation. The school has approximately 500 students and 80 employees. The school owns all its premises and has its own restaurant kitchen. Our vision is to increase accessibility in learning and development for the students, with a focus on learning environments and modern planning that starts from the students' needs.
You will join a culture where new thinking is encouraged, and where we gladly support you in your development projects with colleagues. Karlslundsskolan is Erasmus+ accredited and conducts several exchanges with students and teachers every year. Vallentuna music classes are run by Karlslundsskolan and represent an exciting culture that characterizes the school unit.
Job Responsibilities
As a special needs educator, you work closely with the teachers and for the students. You develop the school unit by making teaching accessible to the students. With good communication and strong relationships, you act as a professional sounding board for the teachers. You work on finding areas for development for the entire school unit and in individual teaching situations. Through qualitative analysis and systematic work, you drive development processes continuously in practice.
This position has a primary focus on the later years of compulsory school. You need to have a sharp pedagogical eye that sees what needs to be developed, as well as the drive and knowledge to implement development in practice. You see opportunities to develop teaching together with teachers and pedagogues.
Your working style is proactive and outreach-oriented. You are a support for the entire school with your special needs pedagogical knowledge in focus. We have trust-based and distributed leadership and management at the school. It is a great advantage if you yourself have a talent for this, take great responsibility, and are driven by success in practice.
You are responsible for developing promoting, preventive, remedial, and supportive measures, in collaboration with guardians, teachers, and school management. You are also responsible for conducting pedagogical mapping and investigations of various kinds, drawing up, and continuously evaluating action plans and support measures. You work with the results follow-up plan to then evaluate, analyze, follow up, and implement changes in teaching together with the teachers.
You plan structural support for students and communicate this with the teachers. You communicate with guardians of students who need more support and teach students in the learning studio. You also conduct planning and follow-up of various school development processes. You will be a natural and important part of the school's student health team. You work closely with the deputy principal and school management.
Qualifications
- You are educated as a special needs educator or special teacher.
- You have experience of teaching in compulsory school.
- You have experience of mentoring teachers regarding teaching and adaptations for students with special needs.
- You have very good pedagogical competence to ensure the quality of work with action plans and support measures.

The employment is a permanent full-time position, holiday service, starting in August or as agreed. We apply individual salary setting, and a probationary period may be applied.
