Helping people when they are in greatest need of help, making a real difference, saving lives. This is what ambulance staff cite as some of the reasons why they enjoy their profession.
Working in prehospital emergency care is meaningful and varied. When an alarm comes to the ambulance station, the staff must be in the vehicle within 90 seconds, and they do not know which patient they will meet until then. Being prepared for all types of patients and adapting to every situation requires the ability to switch pace and adjust quickly to best meet the needs of the patient and their relatives, as well as the ability to process information and make well-founded medical decisions.
Prehospital care demands a broad range of competencies to provide good, efficient, and safe close care to all citizens. This can involve prehospital care for patients of all ages who may have breathing and circulation issues, be unconscious, in pain, mentally unstable, or in labor. Patients are assessed, examined, and treated by ambulance personnel on-site and/or during transport to a healthcare facility. Ambulance care also includes transporting patients between healthcare facilities locally, regionally, and nationally.
The work involves close collaboration with the closest colleague in the vehicle. There is also extensive collaboration with other functions. Nurses and ambulance care workers work in various interprofessional teams with doctors and other vital societal actors.
The position is located in Vimmerby, but there may also be shifts at other stations. The ambulance in Vimmerby is staffed 24/7, which means you will work days/evenings/nights/weekends.
Selection is ongoing, and the position may be filled before the application deadline, so do not wait with your application!
