to apply for the job

We are looking for you to work during the summer period between week 24 and 35 within the elderly care services in Västervik Municipality. You might be studying, unemployed, retired, or curious about a new profession and interested in getting a foot in the door with our organization.

When working as a substitute in our care services, you also have the opportunity to participate in fun activities all summer with the summer club "Jollen"! The care inspirers Moa, Malva, Clara, Adelia, and Olle will organize activities together with the substitutes, ranging from barbecue evenings and morning swims before work, to ice cream at Bosses or sunset after-work drinks, with the aim of strengthening community spirit and creating a better atmosphere among colleagues.

Your responsibilities

Working with older people is fantastic! You will have an active and varied job that gives you wonderful memories and experiences for life. In elderly care, we work from a salutogenic perspective with the individual's needs at the center. This means your task is to be attentive, motivating, encouraging, and supportive. You contribute to quality of life every day!

Common tasks within elderly care:

  • Support in social situations
  • Support in personal care and meals
  • Medical tasks
  • Digital documentation
  • Work with technical aids
  • Being a support and working with participation regarding the individual's daily chores

You can work in nursing homes, short-term accommodation, or within home care services in various locations throughout the municipality. We are needed around the clock, seven days a week, so work during days, evenings, and nights on weekdays and weekends may occur. Heavy lifting may be part of the role, but you will have assistance from aids.

Your workplace

Our operations within elderly care and home care are located in Västervik, Gamleby, Överum, Edsbruk, Loftahammar, Gunnebo, Ankarsrum, and Hjorted. You will have the opportunity to request a specific workplace, but we prefer that you are flexible.

In Edsbruk and Loftahammar, there is an opportunity for the employer to provide accommodation support during the summer.

At Annagården's short-term and alternating accommodation in Västervik, people stay temporarily, for example, coming from the hospital for shorter periods to receive support in their rehabilitation. Here, people also stay alternately with their regular residence for a couple of weeks at a time.

Qualifications

Greatest emphasis is placed on your personal qualities. It is not a requirement to have worked in elderly care previously.

We are primarily looking for you who are 18 years or older. A B-driver's license is required for several assignments within home care. It is a requirement that you master the Swedish language as documentation and oral communication are crucial to performing the tasks. Documentation is digital, so you need to be comfortable working in digital environments.

We are looking for you who:

  • have a positive view of humanity and a positive attitude
  • are thoughtful, empathetic, and care about others' well-being
  • are responsible regarding both your tasks and professional relationships
  • are communicative and have no difficulty making yourself understood or understanding others
  • are respectful and value everyone's integrity
  • are flexible and ready to step in with short notice

It is an advantage if you:

  • have previous experience working in elderly care or other equivalent experience
  • have relevant upper secondary or post-secondary education
  • have a B-driver's license
  • have previous experience in service or pedagogical work
