Join AstaZero on the exciting journey of the Gothenburg Region, Sweden, and Europe towards a more connected and automated future of transport!

About Us
AstaZero, owned by RISE (Research Institutes of Sweden), is a world-leading high-tech test center for research and development in active traffic safety, connected, and automated transport. AstaZero offers a unique combination of physical and digital development environments that enable, support, and accelerate R&D. Development takes place through partnerships and close collaboration with vehicle manufacturers, suppliers, authorities, and universities from around the world.

About the Role
You will be a key part of AstaZero’s R&D department, which is growing rapidly. Here, we work with research, development, and verification of future automated and connected transport systems. The role combines technical expertise in AD/ADAS (Autonomous Driving/Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) with responsibility for initiating, driving, and developing research and innovation projects in collaboration with industry, academia, and authorities.

As a technical expert, you will contribute to the development of test methodologies, test environments, and advanced verification solutions for automated and connected vehicles. You will work closely with both internal development teams and external partners to ensure that future transport systems can be developed, verified, and validated in a safe and efficient manner.

A central part of the role is identifying new research and business opportunities. You are expected to build and lead consortia, create strategic partnerships, and drive applications to national and international research funders. The work may lead to research projects, customer assignments, and long-term development collaborations.

In this role, you will work largely independently but also collaborate closely with our R&D teams, external partners, and authorities. You will also maintain close contact with project managers and internal management.

At AstaZero, you will work in a stimulating environment with competent and friendly colleagues who are passionate about making a difference. You will have great opportunities to develop and take on new responsibilities as we grow strongly.

Your work will primarily take place at the development office on Lindholmen, with flexibility to work some time from home. Some activities are also located at our test track outside Borås. Travel may be required periodically.

Who are you?
You are a person who combines technical competence with the ability to create engagement and build collaborations. You thrive in complex environments where technology, research, and business development meet, and you are motivated by creating results together with others.

You have a strong systems perspective and can quickly grasp new technical issues, while also having the ability to turn ideas into concrete activities and projects. You are proactive, communicative, and experienced in collaborating with various stakeholders.

We believe you have experience leading cross-functional teams, building networks, and creating trusting relationships with customers, research partners, authorities, and other external actors.

You have:

  • MSc or BSc in a relevant field.
  • Documented experience in AD/ADAS, automated vehicles, or related areas.
  • Experience in technical leadership within complex development, research, or innovation projects.
  • Good understanding of system architecture, system integration, and technical dependencies in complex system environments.
  • Experience collaborating with industry, academia, or authorities.
  • Very good ability to communicate in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing.
  • A valid Swedish B driving license.

The position is based in Gothenburg, but you will occasionally work days at the test track outside Borås.

Meritorious if you have previous experience with:

  • Sensor fusion, radar, lidar, camera-based systems, or GNSS.
  • Machine learning, AI-based perception systems, or automated vehicles.
  • Euro NCAP requirements, test methods, and evaluation processes.
  • Verification, validation, and test methodology for AD/ADAS systems.
  • Simulation, virtual testing, or digital twins.
  • Communication technology such as V2X, 4G, or 5G.
  • Practical testing activities or work in test environments.

Great emphasis is placed on personal qualities.

Are we the right match?
Here, you will have the opportunity to work in a growing company where a lot is happening. At RISE, we are convinced that diversity contributes to an innovative environment where we together challenge boundaries and develop new knowledge and competence for the future. You will work in a dynamic environment that offers professional and personal development opportunities. Here, you have the chance to make a real difference.
