Do you want meaningful work where you make a difference – every day?
The Staffing Unit in Vara Municipality is looking for you who want to work as a casual employee within elderly care (ÄO) and/or support for people with disabilities and labor market (FOA). With us, you get the chance to meet people at different stages of life and contribute to security, warmth, and quality of life, whether it is in a home or at a residential facility.
Your role
As a casual worker in the Social Welfare sector, you work where you are needed most, sometimes with short notice. You replace regular staff during both planned and acute absences, and working hours can vary between day, evening, night, weekend, and in some cases, 24-hour shifts with on-call duties.
The work is both varied and meaningful. You meet people with different needs and provide support. You work to ensure that every individual feels included and secure in their daily life.
Your tasks include:
- Providing personal care and support with hygiene routines. Helping with meals, cleaning, and shopping.
- Performing health and medical care interventions on delegation from a nurse.
- Documenting according to the operations' guidelines.
Your commitment and ability to treat people with warmth and respect are crucial for creating a meaningful daily life for the elderly.
Your knowledge and experience
We are primarily looking for you who have the right attitude; it is your desire to make a difference that is most important to us.
You are a person who is flexible, responsible, and solution-focused. You have a respectful approach and enjoy building good relationships, both with users and colleagues.
You need:
- To be at least 18 years old.
- Since Swedish is the common working language at the workplace, you need to master the language, both orally and in writing, at the level required by the tasks.
- Good computer skills and experience using a smartphone.
- A valid B-driver's license and experience cycling, as several of our operations require this.
- Access to BankID.
Before employment and when booking an interview, you need to be able to present:
- You also need to show a passport/valid ID card. A driver's license can be shown together with a certificate of personal data, which you can retrieve from skatteverket.se using Bank-ID; we can do this when booking an interview.
- A extract from the police's criminal record register, e.g., https://polisen.se/tjanster-tillstand/belastningsregistret/arbete-i-hemmet-med-aldre-och-personer-med-funktionsnedsattning-e-tjanst/ (https://polisen.se/tjanster-tillstand/belastningsregistret/arbete-i-hemmet-med-aldre-och-personer-med-funktionsnedsattning-e-tjanst/), easy to order digitally if possible.
- References will be requested in connection with the recruitment.
Your future workplace
As a casual employee through the Staffing Unit, you get the opportunity to work at different operations and workplaces within Vara Municipality. You become part of an operation where we see the person behind every need, both the user and you as an employee.
We currently work with the digital booking system Medvind, where you control which days and times you can work. Bookings are sent via SMS, so you need to have a mobile phone and/or computer.
Recruitment is ongoing and when needs arise, so submit your application as soon as possible for a greater chance of employment and the opportunity to start as a casual worker right now. Prepare an extract from the criminal record register and references for any potential interview.
During the summer of 2026, you may also be offered a summer substitute position if there is a need.
