Operating Room Nurse – Paediatric Anaesthesia and Surgery
At the Department of Anaesthesia, Surgery and Intensive Care, we care for patients and families facing critical moments. For some, we are their last hope; for others, we create the opportunity for a better life. Whether you work in the sterile processing department, in our mobile units, on the intensive care unit, or in the operating theatre, you play a crucial role in these decisive moments. We invite you to apply and become part of our team.
Our Department
Do you want to work in a highly specialized paediatric department where teamwork, quality, and compassion are at the center? On the Paediatric Anaesthesia and Surgery Department, we care for children and adolescents aged 0–16 undergoing surgery. Our patients range from premature infants to teenagers. We perform procedures including urology, orthopedics, hand surgery, general surgery, and neonatal surgery.
Every interaction matters here. We work in a family-centered manner and place great emphasis on safety and security – for both the child and their loved ones – throughout the entire care pathway, from admission to discharge.
Your Role
As an Operating Room Nurse, you are a key person in the operating theatre and part of the team standing by the child's side throughout the procedure. The work is varied, ranging from complex surgeries to smaller planned interventions – always with the child's best interests and safety in focus.
You will work within several surgical areas in a department where the pace can vary. Our surgical program is continuously adjusted based on acute needs. Here, you also have the opportunity to follow children over time, for example within oncological surgery.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse with specialist education in perioperative nursing. Experience in paediatric care is meritorious but not a requirement.
What We Offer
- Permanent full-time employment.
- Daytime working hours (Monday–Friday) with on-call duty every 6th–8th weekend.
- From September: a working time model with 37 hours/week.
- Individualized introduction.
At our department, you will meet a close and family-like work environment where collaboration and well-being are in focus. We offer great opportunities for competence development as well as access to both national and international networks. With flexible working hours and wellness benefits, we create good conditions for a balance between work and private life.
We value your professional development and want you to grow and thrive throughout your working life.
At our department, you receive benefits that make a difference. Read more about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/).

Region Uppsala values the qualities that equal gender distribution and diversity bring to the operations and welcomes applicants of all genders and with different backgrounds, abilities, and life experiences.
Region Uppsala assigns all permanent staff to wartime duties based on the needs of the total defense. This entails no obligations for the individual employee in peacetime but is solely a planning measure.
Before making a decision on employment, a check of the preliminary register and criminal record will be conducted for all job seekers who, in the sought position, may come to work within psychiatric care, habilitation, care for children and adolescents, or involuntary care for substance abusers, areas covered by optional register extracts. This thus applies to all who will work close to patients, even if the tasks at present are not intended to primarily involve work with the aforementioned patient groups.
This recruitment is conducted entirely through Region Uppsala, and we decline phone calls from recruitment agencies and advertising sales.
