The Department of Political Science is a dynamic and strong educational and research institution at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Stockholm University. The department strives to be nationally leading and internationally outstanding in research and education. The Department of Political Science has just over 90 employees and approximately 800 students.

Responsibilities

The work involves teaching within the field of political science. The teaching covered by the appointments is as follows:

  • Political Science I, II, and III
  • Bachelor's Programme in Global Development
  • Bachelor's Programme in Political Science and Public Governance
  • Master's Programme in Public Administration and the EU
  • Teacher Education Programme with a focus on Social Studies
  • Urban and Regional Planning Programme

Qualifications

To be eligible for appointment as a Senior Lecturer, one must have demonstrated pedagogical skill and hold a PhD in political science or have equivalent scientific competence.

All teaching appointments at Stockholm University presuppose that the applicant has the ability to cooperate and is otherwise suitable to perform the duties of the position.

As the teaching is conducted both in Swedish and in English, the applicant must master both languages to a very good level, both orally and in writing.

Assessment Criteria

Equal and special weight is given to scientific and pedagogical skill, particularly within the areas covered by the teaching. Administrative ability and the ability to collaborate with the surrounding society are also valued.

Higher education pedagogical education of at least 15 higher education credits or equivalent knowledge acquired in other ways is meritorious. Experience of teaching in the areas covered by the appointments is also meritorious.

About the Position

The appointments are part-time and fixed-term for the autumn term 2026. Start date in August or as agreed.
