About the Department

Neuropsychiatry is one of five adult psychiatric departments within Sahlgrenska University Hospital. We provide specialized psychiatric care focusing on memory-related diseases, neuropsychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, psychiatry for the deaf and hard of hearing, psychiatry for patients with eating disorders, psychiatry for patients with intellectual disabilities, and psychiatry for patients with Huntington's disease.

Here, you will have the opportunity to provide care centered on the individual's needs, seeing patients in our inpatient care and via mobile teams in the patients' home environments. This is a rewarding and exciting assignment where you can truly make a difference for our elderly, vulnerable patients. The ability to solve problems and think creatively is essential in this work. What do we offer?

A 6-month temporary position where you gain a breadth of experience unique to both psychiatry and somatic medicine. You will have the opportunity to meet individuals primarily suffering from cognitive degenerative diseases. Additionally, elderly individuals often have other internal medical conditions to consider, making the work more comprehensive and educational.

We have extensive experience supervising and working with medical students, interns (AT), residents (ST), and junior doctors before AT at our clinics and wards. Our department is collaborative, offering good support from a dedicated team, managers, and colleagues. Our Memory Clinic is located in Mölndal but belongs to Sahlgrenska University Hospital, where we work with patients primarily over 70 years old, who often have complex psychiatric issues with elements of somatic and geriatric medicine. The complexity is motivating, and we are looking for you who, with the right guidance, will have a developmental and educational time while making a contribution to our patients.

About the Role

Your role as a doctor here is particularly important. You will handle standard medical duties such as new patient visits, follow-up appointments, lumbar punctures, conversations with relatives and authorities, discussing medication prescriptions, and planning further treatment, all in consultation with and led by existing specialists in psychiatry and neurology.

As a doctor within the department, you will be part of our primary on-call line, which involves house duties at SU/S, the Psychiatry Emergency at SU/Ö, and the Admission Unit at SU/Ö.

The position is a 6-month temporary contract with a possibility of extension.

About You

You have passed grades in the medical program up to and including T10, a Swedish medical degree, or Swedish medical license.

You have an interest and commitment to our patient groups, are flexible, and have the ability to see and prioritize the needs of patients and the department. You appreciate working in an environment of constant development and in teams with combined competencies from various professions. Great importance will be attached to personal suitability. Selection and interviews are conducted on an ongoing basis.
